The opening of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., is just the beginning of what is sure to be a contentious and interesting presidential race. Republican nominee Mitt Romney's wife Ann was one of the speakers the first night of the convention, a public-speaking role that was new to the potential First Lady. Should the Romneys end up in the White House, it's possible that Ann could end up in a movie at some point, like many First Ladies before her. While you're thinking of who could possibly play Ann Romney, either as a First Lady or in a movie about the Romney campaign — don't forget, John McCain's unsuccessful 2008 Presidential campaign was adapted into the HBO movie Game Change — Hollywood Dailies has compiled a look at First Ladies on the small and big screen in the clip above. more on cinematic first ladies >> Posted 08.30.12 by Ryan

Maksim Chmerkovskiy dropped Kirstie Alley on last night's Dancing With the Stars, but the couple recovered nicely to score in the middle of the pack. The chivalrous Chmerkovskiy blamed the accident on a "charlie horse," not the fact that his partner outweighs him by at least 10 pounds.
Rihanna's hit single "S&M" is clearly autobiographical, as she tells Rolling Stone that she's into the rough stuff. "Being submissive in the bedroom is really fun. You get to be a little lady, to have somebody be macho and in charge of your s**t. That's fun to me...I like to be spanked. Being tied up is fun. I like to keep it spontaneous. Sometimes whips and chains can be overly planned – you gotta stop, get the whip from the drawer downstairs. I'd rather have him use his hands."
As the New York Daily News speculates on the top five possible replacements for Katie Couric's anchor chair at the CBS Evening News, TMZ reports 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley is the choice of CBS chairman Jeff Fager to turn around the flagging broadcast.
Sean Hayes, best known as the guy from Will and Grace, has joined Will Sasso as a stooge in the Farrely brothers Three Stooges movie. (The role of Moe is still up for grabs.) The pic was originally set to star A-listers Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly, and Benicio del Toro as Moe.
Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff still has it, as the 58 year-old star is dating 31 year-old Welsh model/factory worker and Pamela Anderson lookalike Hayley Roberts.
Jane Fonda has weighed in on The Kennedys miniseries on her blog, calling it "pretty good," and praising the performance of Katie Holmes as Jackie. "Kate does Jackie really well, I think. It's interesting. I knew the Kennedys and never knew that Jackie wanted a divorce before Jack ran for president. Didn't realize the extent to which father Joe ran the show. Talk about patriarchy! In that family it was quintessential!"

For the uninitiated, Barbarella is a science fiction movie from director Roger Vadim that was not very highly regarded when it was released in 1968, but is today a cult classic. The film starred then-nubile Jane Fonda in the title role and was an adaptation of the Barbarella comic books of Jean-Claude Forest. The film caused a bit of a stir because of an opening sequence featuring Fonda stripping in zero gravity and for a torture sequence where a device attempts to pleasure Barbarella to death.
There have been many who have expressed interest in doing a remake of the film over the years, but the idea never gained any real traction until it was announced in May 2007 that Robert Rodriguez was fronting an effort to bring the space vixen to life. After that announcement, rumors circulated that Rodriguez's girlfriend at the time, actress Rose McGowan, would play the role of Barbarella, but one year later Rodriguez declared the project dead.
Now, it seems, Barbarella has new life. The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Dino & Martha De Laurentiis are producing the Barbarella remake and that they've hired Joe Gazzam to write the screenplay, with Robert Luketic in talks to direct. But, with Rodriguez and McGowan out of the picture, who will play the title role? According to some reports, Golden Globe-winner Emily Blunt is in talks for the role, along with fellow Brit Sienna Miller, who currently stars as The Baronness in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. However, since the De Laurentiis' project does not currently have studio backing, it may be some time before we know who will be wearing Barbarella's see-through space-age apparel. Jane Fonda thinks we don't see enough erotic elderly content on screen. Well, at least not outside of specialty venues.
The former workout queen, political activist and Barberlla says that her steamy new relationship with retired businessman, Lynden Gillis, has confirmed her belief that other people want to see that your sex life doesn't have to end at 40.
The actress was quoted as saying, '"I want to do a sexy erotic love story about people over 70..."
Fonda goes on to add that she thinks [there is] "a big audience of people yearning for this kind of film..."

Variety is reporting that Robert Rodriguez (of the better half of Grindhouse) has signed on to do a remake of Barbarella, the 1968 movie in which Jane Fonda parades around outer space in all manner of bathing suits and gogo boots.
When asked if he will get Fonda to reprise her role, Rodriguez allegedly said, "Hell yeah. Just think about how much her costumes influenced the fashion of the space program the first time around."
He also said he wanted to chop off her legs and replace them with cathode ray guns. And he wants to fly over the moon.
