Have Mother, will travel.
The upcoming The Guilt Trip isn't the only comedy about a mother and adult son trying to forge a bond, and no one is more aware of that than director Anne Fletcher (The Proposal). "About the only one that comes to mind is [1996's] Mother," Fletcher said to USA Today of the possible comparison to The Guilt Trip. "I went back and watched it again, just to make sure we didn't do anything similar."
And, in fact, it looks like the movie has more in common with a road trip comedy like Planes, Trains and Automobiles as it sees Seth Rogen play an inventor who decides to bring his mother (Barbra Streisand) along for a cross-country trip where he tries to sell his product. "It's a story about a guy who is trying to not be really annoyed by his mother all the time," said Rogen of the movie, which finally has its first trailer online. trailers that don't hitchhike
