A few weeks ago, Kristen Stewart, best known as the angst-ridden, vampire-loving teen Bella Swan, signed on to star in Cali, a gritty, dark, action-comedy.
Now there is more good news for the project. Nick Cassavetes, who helmed The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper, has just signed on to direct. The material sounds decidedly darker than either The Twilight Saga or The Notebook, however. The story follows a San Fernando Valley couple that makes a fake snuff pic, and then goes into hiding with the money it earns. Years later, Stewart's character must return to her old life to rescue her younger sister, whom she abandoned after her "death." Along the way, she encounters some decidedly unsavory characters, including, apparently, homicidal porn stars. Stewart will not only be starring in the flick, it will give the well-known actress her very first producer credit, as well.
