Conan the Barbarian reboot director Marcus Nispel is the latest director hired to helm an adaptation of Hack/Slash, THR reports. Based on the comic book of the same name by Tim Seeley, Hack/Slash is a twist on the slasher sub-genre of horror movies and follows heroine Cassie Hack, a survivor of an attack by a sadistic murderer and decides to hunt down slashers of the Michael Myers (Halloween) and Jason (Friday the 13th) vein with the help of her brooding protector Vlad.
Hack/Slash has been in development since 2006, and has had a revolving door of directors, though the movie may have its most qualified director yet in Nispel. No stranger to the horror genre, Nispel directed the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th and also hacked and slashed through Norse invaders in 2007's Pathfinder. The German-born Nispel takes over a director's chair previously held for Swedish music video director Fredrik Bond and initial director Todd Lincoln (the upcoming The Apparition).
