At last year's Cannes Film Festival, actor-writer-director Matthew Butler shopped his short E'Gad, Zombies! to find financing for a feature-length version. Aiding him in his search was Sir Ian McKellen, who narrated and appeared in the 22-minute movie set in 18th-Century England. At the time, director David O. Russell was busy adapting Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but the project, which recently hired Fright Night remake director Craig Gillespie, still has no cast attached.
A year later, Butler's hard work has paid off, as Screen Daily reports that Dame Judi Dench and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) have joined the cast of the production, which is now titled The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet.
Like E'Gad, Zombies!, the plot of The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet remains the same — a seaside town finds itself the victim of a deadly illness. Butler co-wrote the movie with Tori Hart; both are also serving as producers. Butler is again in Cannes this year talking to sales agents and hopes to start production on the movie later this year in Scotland. watch the E'Gad, Zombies! trailer >> Posted 05.18.11 by Ryan

The new teaser poster (Click on the image to the left for a larger version) for the hotly anticipated X-Files Sequel has made its debut on the interweb, and while the shot of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson clad in black is certainly very pretty to look at, it also raises a few questions. Chief among them: How are their shadows able to cross in the shape of an X when there's only one source of light, emanating from the bottom left corner? I never got to see much of the original series, so I can't recall whether Scully & Mulder ever faced some physics-defying nemesis. Perhaps one of you more astute X-Philes can help me out... Looks like the long-rumored X Files sequel will finally be headed into production, the Canadian Broadcasting Association reports.
While promoting his new Showtime series Californication at the TCAs, star David Duchovny confirmed the latest rumor, adding that co-star Gillian Anderson is also attached. X Files creators Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are putting the finishing touches on the script, with Carter looking to direct.
The truth may still be out there, but what about the fans? The first X Files flick came out in 1998, back when Duchovny, Anderson and Carter were all in their prime. Since then, shows like Lost and Heroes have helped fill the void for fans aching for some conspiracy-related drama. Seems like this sequel might be about five years too late. Posted 07.16.07 by reelz
