Like the swelling cast of The Hunger Games, casting announcements continue for director Christopher Nolan's third installment in his Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises. Last week Matthew Modine, Scottish actor Tom Conti, and 11-year-old actress Joey King were added to the cast. Today Variety reports that two more actors have been added in supporting roles.
Brett Cullen, best known for his role as an Other on ABC's TV show Lost, will play a judge in the movie. Cullen will be familiar to comic book movie fans for appearing as Nicolas Cage's father in 2007's Ghost Rider. He also appears in the Red Dawn remake with Thor's Chris Hemsworth ... whenever that movie is given a release date.
Chris Ellis joins The Dark Knight cast as a priest. Ellis will be familiar to comic book fans after playing Admiral Brigham in 2007's Transformers, and familiar to TV viewers for his work on almost every TV show ever produced.
Ellis and Cullen join a huge cast that includes returning cast members Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Nestor Carbonell, and Michael Caine, as well as newcomers Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Josh Pence, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, and Juno Temple.
The Dark Knight Rises is currently shooting in London from a script by Nolan and his brother, Jonathan Nolan. The highly-anticipated sequel arrives on July 20, 2012. Posted 05.24.11 by Ryan
