THR reports that 20th Century Fox has moved its Planet of the Apes prequel, Caesar: Rise of the Apes, from its June 24 release date to a more Thanksgiving-friendly date of November 23. The move was precipitated by Oren Aviv's move from head of production at Disney to a co-president of domestic theatrical marketing and chief marketing officer at Fox, which interrupts the usual red flag that a scheduling change often signals.
Rise of the Apes stars James Franco, fresh off his lauded performance in 127 Hours, in a movie described in the official synopsis as "a reality-based cautionary tale" that takes place in the present day and follows the origin of genetic engineering that eventually raises the intelligence of apes. Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) directed from a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Eye for an Eye) that cast member Tom Felton told the LA Times was "brilliant." more about Felton's role >> Posted 01.18.11 by Ryan
