Reelz' Entertainment Rundown
It was a big weekend for awards with both the GRAMMYs and BAFTAs taking place and as always the fashion played a key part. After receiving an email detailing unacceptable attire, the GRAMMY guests appeared less risky than previous years, however there were a few stars who pushed the boundaries. Jennifer Lopez seemed to gain inspiration from Angelina Jolie’s famous red-carpet Versace dress, wearing a leg revealing Anthony Vaccarello, Katy Perry showed off a figure hugging, cleavage baring Gucci number and Kelly Rowland left little to the imagination with her Anthony Vaccarello gown. The BAFTAs were a classier affair with Jessica Chastain stunning in a blue Rolan Mouret and perhaps the most shocking, Helen Mirren debuting a newly-dyed pink hair style.
The Grand Slam Star Trek & Sci-Fi Summit XVIII is taking place in Burbank this weekend, February 15-17. Science-fiction fans from around the world will enjoy appearances from a vast number of celebrities, including Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jasika Nicole, and more. The non-stop auditorium show will include behind the scenes presentations, costume and trivia contests, videos, and auctions all related to new and vintage sci-fi TV and movies from franchises such as Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, Fringe, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and The Vampire Diaries More on Finding Nemo 2 and The Muppets... Again! Posted 02.12.13 by reelz
After the success of Jason Segel's The Muppets last year, director James Bobin and co-writer Nicholas Stoller have decided to make a sequel, even without the funny actor.
According to Vulture, Segel won't be returning as an actor or co-writer in the new Muppets movie due to previous commitments. Segel is currently starring in CBS's How I Met Your Mother as well as promoting his upcoming rom-coms (The Five-Year Engagement and This Is Forty).
While a movie with the lovable Muppets but without the man who made them cool again may seem dull, not all hope is lost. Vulture reports their Disney insiders said "there's still a chance that the actor may star in a Muppets sequel, depending on how the Stoller-Bobin script turns out."
In the meantime, check out Segel alongside Emily Blunt in April's The Five-Year Engagement and in Judd Apatow's This Is Forty, set to hit theaters this December. Posted 03.01.12 by reelz
The Oscars are this Sunday, and it seems like humans and puppets alike can't contain their excitement. This year marks the 84th ceremony for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the fifth appearance for family-favorites the Muppets.
Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy starred in Jason Segel's 2011 musical comedy, The Muppets, and will be at the awards to present a surprise. Kermit's felt lips were sealed, only admitting to EW that it was "something very special." watch their interview >> Posted 02.24.12 by reelz
In the first preview clip released yesterday, Muppets fans had their first real introduction to the newest fuzzy family member, Walter. Though the clip was less than a minute in length, it was enough to learn that Walter has a sweet disposition but he's not gullible. After all, it's not like he believes everything he reads online.
In two more brand-new clips, we discover even more. First, we learn that being an editor at Paris Vogue hasn't kept Miss Piggy from keeping up with her martial arts training or from going to brunch regularly. In the second clip, we come to understand that some people still talk like prohibition-era mobsters and that newcomer Walter can always be counted on to come up with a great plan in a pinch. watch the clips >> Posted 11.03.11 by Mandy
Back in May, the first trailer for The Muppets was released and was a sneakily disguised as a rom-com titled Green with Envy. That was followed by several parody trailers such as "The Pig with the Froggy Tattoo", the Green Lantern-esque "Being Green", and the hungover "Fuzzy Pack."
Now they have released what they're claiming as the final parody trailer for The Muppets and they start off by doing a parody of... their own first parody trailer? It's a little confusing and sorta made us feel like we're living in a strange Matrix-type world and there's a glitch in the code. After that, they go on to tackle a few other fall movies, including Breaking Dawn and Paranormal Activity 3, and they aren't afraid to explain their own jokes on the way. Just when you think the Muppets have reached the pinnacle of sweet, charming humor with their trailers, it turns out they haven't. This newest trailer for The Muppets is straightforward, not a parody of another movie, and though their parodies are amazing, the Muppets are the best when they are doing their own thing.
Though we enjoy Amy Adam's daintiness at declining to take a seat, and a bunch of chickens singing Cee Lo's "(Forget) You" is pretty amazing, our favorite bit is when they decide to take Indiana Jones' usual mode of travel when they go to Paris.
Though this is writers Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller's first foray into the world of fuzzy comedy, it's clear that they know what they're doing here. Watch the trailer >> Posted 10.13.11 by Mandy
Last week,The Muppets focused their promotional energy on Facebook, with Miss Piggy urging fans to be part of the Muppet fan-athon in an effort to get to a bazillion likes on the official Muppet Facebook page, and on Friday devoting the page to Fozzie Bear and letting him tell bad jokes. This week, it looks like they're looking past social media and promoting the movie in more traditional ways. Four new posters have been released for The Muppets, and the gang is looking fuzzier than ever.
Hollywood.com got the first glimpse of the new posters, which include character posters of Kermit, Miss Piggy and Animal, and a group photo that features those three with Gonzo and Beaker thrown in as well. Between the posters and the movie's official synopsis, it looks like the bad-boy drummer of the Electric Mayhem is going to play a bigger role in the upcoming flick than he has in the earlier Muppet movies. So far, the publicity for this fall's The Muppets has been pretty fun, including a Hangover parody trailer, an OK Go video, and a sneaky fake rom-com trailer.
This week, the makers of the fuzzy epic continue their play with pop-culture references, posting a pic on the movie's Facebook page that shows the lovable giant Sweetums wearing the crazy Philip Treacy hat that Princess Beatrice made famous at the royal wedding last spring. Who knew that Sweetums, who usually wears what looks like torn burlap, had $131,000 to spend on a new fascinator?
The Muppets opens November 23, stars Amy Adams and Jason Segel, along with Kermit, Missy Pigg, Sweetums, and the rest of the Muppet crew. Posted 09.14.11 by Mandy
If you were looking forward to the romantic comedy Green with Envy starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams, you may be in for a surprise.
Wrapped inside that trailer is the first trailer for Walt Disney's upcoming The Muppets. The trailer begins telling a romantic story gone wrong between Adams and Segel, but eventually the Muppets make their way into the trailer and have fun with the fake out nature of the trailer itself. watch the trailer >> Posted 05.23.11 by Ryan
