You know the old story: a guy dies, becomes a zombie, falls in love.
After taking a back seat to vampires for the past half-decade, it's a particularly good time to be a zombie these days. With AMC's The Walking Dead continuing to have huge ratings in its third season, the first trailer for zombie apocalypse epic World War Z arrived this week, and could deliver a hit for Paramount if audiences flock to see Brad Pitt destroy a literal wave of zombies. World War Z won't be the only zombie movie in 2013 — Warm Bodies will actually come first, bringing a more comedic, as well as romantic, look at the risen dead.
With Twilight wrapping up the franchise later this month, anyone looking to get their romance-with-the-undead fix next year will need to turn to Warm Bodies, which follows Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) as R, a zombie who suddenly develops feelings for a human woman named Julie (Teresa Palmer) and starts to recall his more human qualities. How much romance will be included is unknown, though the fact that zombies are typically more decayed than vampires isn't lost on writer-director Jonathan Levine, who fills the trailer with a self-aware sense of humor that pokes fun at some zombie movie tropes. more trailers to fall in love with
