The first preview clip from Academy award-winning director Kevin MacDonald's (The Last King of Scotland) new movie, The Eagle (formerly The Eagle of the Ninth), was all about action, showing Roman Centurion Marquis Aquila (Channing Tatum) single-handedly attacking an advancing army of chariots. The pace is slowed down considerably in the latest clip from the movie, which finds Marcus Aquila explaining to Aquila (Donald Sutherland) his plan to go beyond the Roman Wall into the highlands of Caledonia to retrieve the Eagle emblem of his father's lost Ninth Legion with his British slave, Esca (Jamie Bell), as a guide. watch the new preview clip >> Posted 01.30.11 by BrentJS
A new trailer and poster for The Eagle has been released online. Set in 140 AD, The Eagle follows centurion Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) as he attempts to solve the mysterious disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Jamie Bell plays Aquila's British slave Esca, with Donald Sutherland co-starring as Tatum's uncle and Mark Strong as ex-soldier Guern.
The Eagle could be considered a sequel to Neil Marshall's Centurion, which told the story of how the Ninth Legion disappeared, however the movies are unrelated. Based on Rosemary Sutcliff's novel The Eagle of the Ninth, The Eagle was adapted by screenwriter Jeremy Brock and directed by Kevin MacDonald, the creative team behind 2006's The Last King of Scotland. Academy award-winning director Kevin MacDonald's latest movie, The Eagle of the Ninth, wrapped principal photography last month, after shooting in Hungary and Scotland. Now, Yahoo! has a first look at the movie in a new set of still images.
Based on the historical novel of the same name by Rosemary Sutcliff, the movie stars Channing Tatum as Marquis Aquila, a Roman soldier who embarks on a quest with his British slave, Esca (played by Jamie Bell), into the highlands of Caledonia to retrieve the Eagle emblem of his father's lost Ninth Legion.
Currently in post-production, The Eagle of the Ninth is expected to open in 2010, but no date has been announced. The adapted script was penned by Jeremy Brock, who also wrote the script for MacDonald's critically acclaimed biopic, The Last King of Scotland. Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland also star. Looks like Edward Norton thought Brad Pitt was so nice he wanted to work with him twice. The Fight Club duo will be reteaming for State of Play, a crime drama bout a rising politician (Norton) whose mistress suddenly turns up dead. Pitt will play the journalist on the case.
The movie, which will be based on a British miniseries of the same name, will be directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland).
But what we want to know is: Will they be beating the hell of each other? Posted 09.12.07 by reelz
