Elton John was hospitalized Wednesday morning for a respiratory infection, says TMZ. After undergoing multiple tests at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Hospital, doctors recommended that the singer take a week off from performing. As a result, he was forced to cancel four upcoming concerts in Las Vegas.
There was a big surprise on last night's American Idol finale, but it had nothing to do with who won the competition. Idol alums Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo got engaged on stage during the telecast Wednesday night. Young told People that he called producer Nigel Lythgoe last week to arrange the surprise proposal.
Less surprising was the fact that Phillip Phillips won the microphone trophy. This makes the fifth time in a row for a pretty-eyed, white boy, singer/songwriter type to win the competition.
Emmy-winning actor Jim Parsons came out in an interview with the New York Times. In the article, it is revealed that Parsons is gay and has been with his partner for the last 10 years. There has been media speculation over the actor's sexuality for awhile, but really, the fabulous velvet suits he tends to prefer was a bit of a tip-off.
Supermodel and television host Heidi Klum turned up the heat in a new music video. The mother of four sings, smokes, gets a tattoo and writhes on a pole for the new single "Turn Up the Night." The video was an exclusive for Hunger Magazine and is reportedly a one-time thing for Klum. She apparently has no plans to follow up with an album or anything of that sort.
A settlement has been reached in the Transformers: Dark of the Moon lawsuit. Gabriela Cedillo, an extra who was critically injured during filming, will be paid $18.5 million by Paramount Pictures. Cedillo had been in a stunt car that was hit by a cable, and sustained head injuries when the cable came through the windshield. She has been left with permanent brain damage as a result.
