Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar, once pegged by industry pundits as one of Hollywood's most promising actresses, is now headed straight to video, where she'll join the ranks of such talented women as Elizabeth Berkley, Shannon Tweed and Tiffani Thiessen, the latter of whom never quite recovered after unwisely dropping "Amber" from her name.
Whedonesque.com reports that Gellar's new comedy Suburban Girl, recently aquired by Image Entertainment, will arrive on DVD shelves on January 15, 2008. Adapted from Melissa Banks' chick-lit bestseller The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing, the film co-stars Alec Baldwin and is directed by Marc Klein.
These days it doesn't take much for a movie to earn a theatrical release (anyone see Daddy Day Camp?), so Suburban Girl's straight-to-video status is indeed a bad sign. Posted 09.17.07 by reelz
