Who Should Wear the Cape & Cowl?
It's still unclear how Warner Bros. (WB) plans to proceed with the Batman franchise now that director Christopher Nolan has wrapped up his trilogy. If you've seen The Dark Knight Rises, than you know that Nolan handed the keys to the bat cave to someone from within the universe he created just in case WB wanted to continue the story. However, since the studio announced in June that Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall had been hired to pen a movie based on DC Comics' preeminent super-team, the Justice League — the team's current roster includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Cyborg — it seems far more likely that a new Bruce Wayne/Batman will be chosen, one that has nothing to do with Nolan's universe.
It will be tough to fill Christian Bale's Academy Award-winning shoes, but there must be someone out there with the physicality to play a superhero and the acting chops to portray a man driven to prevent the kind of senseless violence that took his parents away from him. Help us choose the new Dark Knight.

Millennium Entertainment has released a series of four character posters for Spanish writer-director Rodrigo Cortés' (Buried) upcoming psychological thriller, Red Lights. The movie stars Robert De Niro as Simon Silver, a legendary psychic who returns after a 30-year absence that followed the mysterious death of his biggest critic. His return prompts two paranormal fraud investigators (played by Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver) to turn their debunking skills on Silver. However, they soon become obsessed with his seemingly inexplicable abilities. Elizabeth Olsen also stars and, based on the tagline on her poster, her character falls into the skeptic camp along with the characters played by Murphy and Weaver.
While some early reviews have complained that the movie plays a game of movie genre bait-and-switch, at least one reviewer compared Red Lights to classics like The Parallax View and Angel Heart, hailing it as a "unique cinema piece...with truly amazing performances." see the new posters >> Posted 05.30.12 by BrentJS

A biopic about Hall-of-Fame baseball star Jackie Robinson was first announced in June, and may be courting its first actor.
Vulture reports Jack Nicholson has been offered an unspecified role in the movie, titled 42 after Robinson's jersey number. The report speculates that Nicholson could be asked to play Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers executive who signed Robinson to a minor-league contract in 1945. Rickey would sign Robinson to a Major League contract two years later, making Robinson the first African-American player to join the league.
Brian Helgeland, who wrote the screenplays for last year's Robin Hood and L.A. Confidential, and wrote and directed 2001's A Knight's Tale, is attached to write and direct the biopic, with Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson collaborating to maintain biographical authenticity. more added to The Dark Knight Rises; Noreiga to take on Schwarzenegger in The Last Stand >> Posted 10.14.11 by Ryan

Everyone has this body clock and it’s really that invention that’s the death of all other inventions. The poor have no time to create anything and the rich have no incentive.
If you're making a movie about a group of survivors set against a backdrop where a deadly virus outbreak has the potential to wipe out humanity, than who better to call on than Cillian Murphy? After all, he's a veteran of that scenario after dealing with the zombie-causing virus in 28 Days Later.
And that's exactly who first-time filmmaker Carl Tibbetts has cast in the thriller Retreat. The movie is about a couple (Murphy and Thandie Newton) who are vacationing on a desolate island when they come across a psychopath, Jamie Bell, who has news of a deadly outbreak that is sweeping through Europe. And it's Bell's character who decides the only way to survive the outbreak is to board up the house and wait it out. That wouldn't be too hard, except that Bell is crazy. watch the trailer >> Posted 05.06.11 by Chris
Talk of a second sequel to Tron has been making the rounds on the internet since February 2010, ten months before Tron: Legacy opened in theaters, and Disney has had Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz working on the script for Tron 3 (working title) since at least April 2010. It's taken a couple of weeks, but THR reports that Disney's highly anticipated sequel Tron: Legacy has earned more than $100 million at the domestic box office, typically the benchmark for "blockbuster" status. Combined with the movie's foreign box office take, Tron: Legacy is now in pure profit mode, having conquered its $170 million budget.
Usually, when movies reach this level of profitability, a sequel announcement is not far behind. While Disney has yet to make that pronouncement, director Joseph Kosinski told MTV in a recent interview that he would be willing to return for another installment. Much of the marketing for Inception, has focused on the reality-warping special effects and mind-bending "dream thief" concept at the heart of the plot of the movie. Apparently, Warner Bros. feels confident that potential moviegoers finally have the concept down, because the studio recently released a huge selection of new still images that are less about the action and effects and more about the main characters of the movie, as played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Watanabe. Accompanying the stills are also several pictures from the set showing writer-director Christopher Nolan giving his actors some direction. Posted 06.27.10 by BrentJS
