"With all due respect, I'm the best hope you've got."
When Hollywood trips on to a new conceit for a movie, there's usually a second, similar production also in the works (and, potentially a "mockbuster" as well) Such is the case with upcoming action-thriller Olympus Has Fallen, whose "Die Hard in the White House" concept is shared with White House Down. Both movies center on a Secret Service agent who must save the President after a terrorist group has taken over the White House, and both competed to complete their casting — Olympus Has Fallen has Gerard Butler in the lead role, White House Down has Channing Tatum — and get their respective movies into production.
While it's too early to tell which movie will win the war of the box office, Olympus Has Fallen has the earlier release date and, therefore, the first trailer, which has just arrived online. The big twist? Butler plays a former Presidential guard who was let go but becomes the only person who can save the President once he is kidnapped. protecting the latest trailers

Leprechauns, ruined birthdays, and home school taunting.
Romantic comedy anthologies are becoming rather popular these days, particularly ones that revolve around a particular holiday, but comedy anthologies are a hard thing to come by — 2007's The Ten comes to mind as does the classic Kentucky Fried Movie — but coming early next year is Movie 43, which stars almost the entirety of Hollywood and has a director list almost as long. In fact, it's hard to believe there are some actors and directors that aren't associated with Movie 43.
Revealed in just the red band trailer alone, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris share a romantic(?) moment; Halle Berry ruins a blind kid's birthday; Terrence Howard reminds a basketball team of the advantage they have; Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts decide to give their home-schooled son an authentic high school experience; Emma Stone checks in on Kieran Culkin's STD; and Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville capture a leprechaun (Gerard Butler). That's not all, of course, Chloe Grace Moretz, Richard Gere, Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet also appear in the very NSFW trailer, which does its very best to be as outrageous and offensive as possible.movie trailers and more

Second chances and soccer moms
When Hollywood needs a leading man seeking redemption, it's starting to look no further than Gerard Butler. After playing a former biker gang member turned preacher as he did in last year's Machine Gun Preacher, Butler will next play a veteran big wave surfer who trains a younger novice in Chasing Mavericks and then a former soccer pro looking to win back his family in Playing For Keeps (formerly Playing the Field). The latter won't be out until December, and finally has its first trailer online.
The dramedy, directed Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds), sees Butler as George Dryer, a former soccer player whose play off the field has lost him a wife (Total Recall's Jessica Biel) and his son (The Walking Dead's Noah Lomax). When Dryer moves to Virginia to coach his son's soccer team and get his life back together, a new career opportunity presents itself after Dryer meets former sportscaster Denise (Catherine Zeta-Jones). There's also supposed to be plenty of Butler hooking up with soccer moms in the movie, though that angle has been dropped in lieu of a more heartfelt trailer. watch the trailer >> Posted 08.11.12 by Ryan
Months after actor Joel Kinnaman (AMC's The Killing) was confirmed to play the lead role in the upcoming remake of Robocop, another cast member has finally been added. THR reports that Gary Oldman has joined the cast of the remake directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad).
Like director Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original, Kinnaman will play Alex Murphy, a Detroit cop who is saved from the brink of death by being turned into the cyborg protector of the futuristic city. Unlike the original, Oldman will play a character named Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and ultimately finds himself stuck between the needs of the corporation and Robocop's attempt to rediscover his humanity. In the original, Miguel Ferrer played Bob Morton, a wormy executive that helped usher the Robocop program through Omni Consumer Products, but didn't have scruples about it later. more about Robocop >> Posted 05.24.12 by Ryan
ReelzChannel Celebrity Rundown
Gerard Butler is being treated for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center, reports TMZ. Trouble for Butler started with the physically demanding shooting of 300 and got worse when he was hurt on the set of the surfing movie Of Men and Mavericks. Back in December, Butler was pulled underwater by a wave and dragged over rocks. Butler reportedly realized he was relying too much on prescription drugs and entered rehab to avoid a "full-blown" addiction, which reportedly also included cocaine.
Don't expect to see Jennifer Aniston at Central Perk anytime soon. Aniston said she doesn't see a Friends reunion movie happening in the near future. "Friends is in your living room; Friends is not in a movie theater. It doesn't make sense to me. I think it would be going against its authentic self," Aniston tells The Hollywood Reporter. In the meantime, there's Aniston's "successful" movie career, which this weekend's Wanderlust might help.
Justin Bieber is going after a beaver. The Biebs legal team filed a cease and desist letter to RC3, the company behind the iPhone app Joustin' Beaver. In the game, users maneuver a beaver who resembles Bieber down a river, while trying to fend off "phot-hogs." Bieber's team wants the app removed and an accounting of all the money made. RC3 says it will continue to sell the 99-cent app, claiming it's a parody and therefore protected.
Chris Brown is being accused of stealing a fan's iPhone, calling her a name, and then driving off with the phone. If true, the move could land the singer four years in prison because he's still on probation for his assault charges. Brown is denying the accusation but the local D.A. is keeping a close eye on the matter.
And in celebrity ink news, Bieber's girlfriend, Selena Gomez, showed off her first tattoo — a heart on her right wrist. Posted 02.24.12 by Chris
Ever since director Zack Snyder first expressed his interest in directing a sequel to his 2007 sophomore effort 300, the question that has been bedeviling fans has been whether or not Gerard Butler would somehow be able to reprise the role of Leonidas, king of the Spartans, despite the fact the character died at the end of the first movie. Butler said that he would be game for a return to Sparta, and Snyder teased the possibility of Leonidas' return when he revealed that 300: Battle of Artemisia (formerly Xerxes) takes place during "the exact same three days" as the events in 300. Now, we have the first confirmation that not only Leonidas, but also his wife, Queen Gorgo, were written into the sequel, opening the way for both Butler and Lena Heady to return. who will be in 300: Battle of Artemisia? >> Posted 09.13.11 by BrentJS
