The recent Oscar telecast included a segment that celebrated the 50th Anniversary of James Bond, which included a montage of clips from the character's movie history and Shirley Bassey singing the title song from Goldfinger. The tribute received a beating from critics online this week, with one outlet calling it a "bust" while another claimed that the tribute felt "fifty years long." However, The Playlist has found an alternative James Bond tribute, one it believes is superior to the Oscars' tribute.
Created by a 19-year-old Dutch film student named Kees van Dijkhuizen Jr, the tribute starts with a scene from 2006's Casino Royale before going back to Dr. No and showing chronological clips of the actors that have played Bond, from Sean Connery through George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and, finally, back to Daniel Craig. The whole video is set to Adele's title song for Skyfall, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song. Whatever you think of either tribute, all we can say is Gefeliciteerd, Kees! watch the video >> Posted 02.28.13 by Ryan
There is no doubt that James Bond is a timeless style icon, and yet his style has changed significantly over time. In honor of the Oscars celebrating 50 years of Bond and Reelz airing 007 classics all through February, we thought we’d compare and contrast the different sartorial expressions of the British super spy. From black tie to bathing suits, every Bond had a complete wardrobe with something for every occasion. From Roger Moore who was the most likely to take a fashion risk to Pierce Brosnan who never got crazier than doubling up on leather jackets, there's a wide range of style within the 007 franchise.from terry rompers to dinner jackets

"I'll do anything for a woman with a knife."
The first movie in Eon Productions' James Bond series not named after a book by creator Ian Fleming, today's feature, Licence to Kill — originally titled Licence Revoked — was also the first to be shot completely outside of the United Kingdom and the last to star Timothy Dalton as Bond. Dalton choose to step away from the role after only two movies due to the protracted legal battle over the rights to the character that put the franchise on hiatus from 1989 to 1995.
One of the darker and more personal James Bond movies, Licence to Kill finds Bond (Dalton) giving up his "007" designation and his "license to kill" in favor of pursuing a vendetta against Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi), a Latin American drug lord responsible for the rape and murder of the wife of his friend, CIA Agent Felix Leiter (David Hedison). Knowing full well what Bond is capable of, MI6 dispatches agents to bring him in by any means necessary. Pursued by his former colleagues and surrounded by his enemies, Bond embarks on a suicide mission to infiltrate Sanchez's organization and assassinate him, licensed or not.

"This is a mission, not a fancy-dress ball."
After 1985's A View to a Kill, the search was on for an actor to replace Roger Moore as James Bond, and both Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan were up for the part. As it turned out, both would eventually play 007, but Dalton took over first when Brosnan wasn't able to leave his contract for the TV show Remington Steele.
Based on a short story by Ian Fleming, The Living Daylights was the first of two Bond movies featuring Dalton, and the most well-reviewed of the two. The Living Daylights finds Bond assigned to aid a Soviet defector (Jeroen Krabbe), and turns to his cellist girlfriend (Maryam D'Abo) after he is abducted again. The movie not only returned to franchise to financial success, but brought Bond back behind the wheel of an Aston Martin, the signature vehicle which was lost in the Moore era.

In the beginning, James Bond started out as a super suave British spy with brains, charm, and a knack for finding creative ways to get out of a tight spot. Over time the character has evolved (and sometimes devolved) and on occasion the over-the-top silliness of the movies can undercut 007's daring and wit.
With Skyfall being released on DVD and Blu-ray this week and Reelz airing Bond movies all month long, we thought now would be a great time to chart 007’s camp factor through the ages. We’ve picked one Bond flick from every decade to represent that era’s Bond to see how the different Bonds stack up cheese-wise. embrace the camp

Ian Fleming wrote his first James Bond novel in 1952, and finished 11 novels total before his death in 1964. The legacy of Fleming's creation lives on in the movies, the 23rd of which, Skyfall, has earned over a billion dollars in worldwide box office.
Of course, with that many movies in the series, it might seem difficult to be conversant on a character like James Bond with only 8 hours to work with, but we've come up with a group of Bond movies that spans the character's 50 years of cinema and will help you talk like a Bond expert in no time. And for anybody looking to be conversant in Bond, you're in luck — all four of the Bond flicks on the list are airing this month on Reelz.celebrating 50 years of bond

"Just a drink. A martini, shaken, not stirred."
This is a big year for James Bond. Ian Fleming's iconic British spy celebrated 50 years as a motion picture hero on Oct. 5th, the golden anniversary of the debut of Dr. No in theaters, and the 23rd James Bond movie, Skyfall, will premiere in just one week in the U.K. (we Yanks have to wait until Nov. 9th). If you're a movie buff, chances are you've seen your fair share of James Bond movies over the years and you likely have your preference of Bond actors, whether Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or the latest, Daniel Craig. But, just as 007 is superior to the other 00s in the service of Her Majesty, not all James Bond movies are created equal. Put on your tux, down a martini and help us sort through 50 years of James Bond movies to select the best of the best.

Yesterday we got a closer look at Toy Story 3's new character, Mr. Pricklepants, a "lederhosen-wearing hedgehog" voiced by Timothy Dalton. We couldn't help but notice the strong resemblance he has with another character — specifically, the comic Achewood's young otter Philippe.
It's not just us, is it? Aside from Mr. Pricklepants' spiked back side, don't the two look remarkably alike? Heck, they both even wear a jaunty hat.
We're curious if any other of Philippe's traits will carry over to his doppelgänger, such as undyingly optimism and naïveté. That being said, it's hard to imagine too much childlike innocence from a character voiced by Dalton. Posted 09.15.09 by reelz
Last week, Pixar announced that Timothy Dalton would be voicing a hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants in the upcoming Toy Story 3.
Mr. Pricklepants? The folks at ComingSoon.net got a closer look at this "lederhosen-wearing hedgehog" during Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim. Check out this rendering. Posted 09.14.09 by reelz
