When the popular Web comic-turned-book series made the leap to the big screen earlier this year, the movie earned about $64 million — a big hit considering that Diary of a Wimpy Kid was made for around $15 million. So it's no surprise that a sequel is in the works. What is surprising, though, is the release date given to Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Roderick Rules — March 25, 2011.
The entire cast is set to return (meet them here), with filming to start next month in Vancouver. This time David Bowers (Flushed Away, Astro Boy) will direct. Posted 07.09.10 by reelz
Four new images from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie have emerged, and they're posters of the stars: Zachary Gordon as Greg, Robert Capron as Rowley, Chloe Moretz as Angie, and Grayson Russell as Fregley. Wimp is in!

The first trailer for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie arrived late last week, and now we have the first look at the official poster.
We love that it features the middle school "morons," and are also intrigued by the prominence of illustration for a live-action adaptation. Chirag Gupta (Karan Brar), Angie (Chloe Moretz), Greg (Zachary Gordon), Rowley (Robert Capron), and Fregley (Grayson Russell) look like only an obligatory footnote. Posted 01.25.10 by reelz
Getting its start as a popular Web comic, Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series has sold millions of copies and turned just as many little boys into readers. Dads dig them. Little girls have even been known to read them.
Now the hard part: making a movie that meets the fans' sky-high expectations. Information about the movie has been scarce, and only a few pics from the set have turned up. At least we know who's been cast.
Who's playing the wise-cracking hero in the live-action movie? And, more important, what do we think of the casting? Find out in Meet the Cast of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

EW snagged the first photos from the set of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, and we think it's fair to say Zachary Gordon nails the part of series hero Greg Heffley. Wouldn't you agree? Posted 11.03.09 by reelz
On Monday, October 12, the latest installment of author Jeff Kinney's Wimpy Kid series — The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days — hits stores in Japan and most of North and South America. But you (or your son) may have to wait a while to purchase it, with chains like Borders and Waldenbooks eschewing the typical midnight release in favor of more demographic-friendly noon release parties.
While the book series' total sales are child's play compared to Stephenie Meyer's four Twilight novels, Dog Days' 4M-copy first run exceeds the 3.7M first run of Meyer's most recent, Breaking Dawn.
Why are we telling you all this? Because Dog Days might have to tide you over until the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie is released on April 2, 2010. It stars Zachary Gordon as Greg Heffley (the Wimpy Kid) and is directed by a man without a wimpy name, Thor Freudenthal. Posted 10.09.09 by reelz
