After That's My Boy tanked at the box office, we're sure Andy Samberg wants to forget about his first post-Saturday Night Live project and focus on his next project, Celeste and Jesse Forever. Today, we get the first trailer for this Sundance darling and we think it's safe to say that Samberg's batting average at the box office should improve.
Samberg and Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones (who also co-wrote the screenplay) play best friends and soul mates . . . who just happen to be divorcing. Here's the full synopsis:
Celeste (Jones) and Jesse (Samberg) met in high school, married young and are growing apart. Now thirty, Celeste is the driven owner of her own media consulting firm, Jesse is once again unemployed and in no particular rush to do anything with his life. Celeste is convinced that divorcing Jesse is the right thing to do — she is on her way up, he is on his way nowhere, and if they do it now instead of later, they can remain supportive friends. Jesse passively accepts this transition into friendship, even though he is still in love with her. As the reality of their separation sets in, Celeste slowly and painfully realizes she has been cavalier about their relationship, and her decision, which once seemed mature and progressive, now seems impulsive and selfish. But her timing with Jesse is less than fortuitous. While navigating the turbulent changes in their lives and in their hearts, these two learn that in order to truly love someone, you may have to let them go. Sony Pictures Animation has released online the first trailer for acclaimed animator and director Genndy Tartakovsky's (Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) new 3-D animated feature, Hotel Transylvania. The trailer is brief, promising far more laughs than frights, but the animation is superb. Adam Sandler does an excellent job of disguising his normal voice to play Dracula, the keeper of the inn for monsters who want to go on vacation without having to worry about pesky humans. Until one shows up at the front door, that is.
Curiously, the plot synopsis included with the trailer on the Columbia Pictures Phillipines YouTube channel differs from the previously released one when it comes to the human interloper. The original synopsis described the human as an "ordinary guy" named "Johnny" (voiced by Andy Samberg) who just happens upon the inn and falls in love with Dracula's daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez), whereas the synopsis included with the trailer described him as "Simon Van Helsing, the youngest in a long line of monster hunters," making his arrival at the inn seem anything but accidental. watch the trailer >> Posted 03.28.12 by BrentJS
Sony Pictures Animation gave us our first look at one of the monsters in director Genndy Tartakovsky's (Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) upcoming 3-D family comedy, Hotel Transylvania, by releasing concept art depicting Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) on Halloween of last year. One week later, the studio followed up the Dracula concept art with the release of a fully-rendered image of Dracula's daughter, Mavis, when it was announced that Miley Cyrus would be providing the "teen" (she's 118) vampire's voice (Cyrus was later replaced by Selena Gomez).
Now, several more of the monsters that will be haunting the halls of Dracula's Hotel Transylvania — where the motto is "human-free since 1898" — have been revealed in a pair of new promotional images for the movie. see the new images >> Posted 03.14.12 by BrentJS
Adam Sandler didn't have a terrific 2011. Both Just Go With It and Jack and Jill were bashed by critics and have earned Sandler a record-setting 11 Razzie nominations.
Luckily, 2012 is a new year, and this summer's That's My Boy (formerly Donny's Boy and I Hate You Dad) could spell redemption from Sandler. The movie follows Sandler as a hard-partying Donny, who runs into money problems and decides to turn to the son he fathered in high school (Andy Samberg) for help. The only problem is, he has hasn't seen his son in years and wasn't exactly a very good father. To promote the comedy, Sony has released a red band trailer for the movie showing Sandler getting in trouble with Samberg's fiancee (Leighton Meester) once his irresponsible ways start to have an influence on his son. watch the trailer >> Posted 03.02.12 by Ryan
Sony Pictures Animation announced in a recent press release that comedy superstar Adam Sandler will lend his distinctive voice to Dracula, the lead character in the studio's upcoming 3-D family comedy Hotel Transylvania. The movie, about a hotel that serves as a refuge to monsters looking to hide from the modern world, has been in development since 2006 and has gone through a series of directors before finally landing Genndy Tartakovsky, the acclaimed animator, director, and producer behind such popular and innovative series as Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. more about Hotel Transylvania >> Posted 07.08.11 by BrentJS
In a recent interview with Collider, Saturday Night Live and Paul actor Bill Hader discussed his upcoming projects for his summer hiatus from SNL, one of which is The Hand Job, a script written and to be directed by his wife, Maggie Carey (Chasing the Dream), and with Aubrey Plaza (NBC's Parks and Recreation) in the lead role. Hader revealed that the indie comedy is "trying to get their funding together" but has already attracted a large cast of comedic actors.

It’s a really cool movie. The cast for that is great. It’s got Aubrey Plaza, me, Andy Samberg (SNL), Donald Glover (NBC's Community), Connie Britton (Women in Trouble), Alia Shawkat (Whip It), Mae Whitman (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Johnny Simmons (Scott Pilgrim) is attached to it. It’s a really cool movie that is insanely funny. We did a reading of it at the Austin Film Festival and it just blew the roof off of the place. People went nuts for it. I really hope that happens.
In November of 2008, MGM gave the green light to a remake of The Three Stooges from writers/directors/siblings Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Four months later, the Farrellys announced a surprising cast that included Jim Carrey as Curly, Sean Penn as Larry, and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. Then, the bottom dropped out as MGM entered into serious financial troubles. As the studio tried to regain its footing, Penn both left and returned, right before Carrey decided he should leave.
Now at home with 20th Century Fox, The Three Stooges has a production start date but no cast. Earlier this month, Peter denied a casting rumor to EW that had Andy Samberg as Larry and Johnny Knoxville as Moe, while also revealing that Penn wasn't likely to be in the cast either. is benicio in or not? >> Posted 01.21.11 by Ryan
