Jamie Campbell Bower, who has already had parts in the Twilight and Harry Potter series, just landed himself the lead in a new potentially big franchise — The Mortal Instruments.
Bower will play Jace Wayland, a role Alex Pettyfer was previously considered for. Bower will star opposite Lily Collins, who will play Clary Fray, who has The Sight and can see demons and Shadowhunters.
Bower currently plays King Arthur in Starz' Camelot. Scott Charles Stewart is directing the first movie based on Cassandra Clare's series.
The first book, City of Bones is about 15-year-old Clary Fray who witnesses a murder committed by three tattooed teenagers — demon hunters called Shadowhunters. After meeting Shadowhunter Jace and being taken to his home at The Institute, mundane (human) Clary is attacked before being drawn deeper into the world of Downworlders — vampires, shapeshifters, and demons.
There is no release date yet for the movie. Posted 05.31.11 by Chris
As if one new New Moon scene wasn't enough, Yahoo! has premiered a brand-new Volturi clip, complete with talking Aro, vampire action, and a very pale Edward (Robert Pattinson) getting his ass kicked.
Although this never happens in the book, Melissa Rosenberg looks to have done a great job spicing up the script, and has added more male-audience-friendly action. Aro (Michael Sheen), Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl), and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) are finally seen in action, with Felix (Daniel Cudmore) and Demetri (Charlie Bewley) doing a stellar job as Volturi guards. Now, if only Bella (Kristen Stewart) didn't look so deer-in-the-headlights, we'd all be happy. Posted 10.22.09 by reelz
Jamie Campbell Bower appeared at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain over the weekend, and spent his time promoting New Moon. He introduced trailers and a new clip (Bella and Jacob on the motorcycle), and went on to talk about the movie. Que.es has posted an interview with the man behind Volturi vampire Caius, in which he talks about the phenomenon that has changed his life.
When asked if he was ready for the inevitable fame and fandom he'll soon be faced with, the 20-year-old said:
I'm prepared for anything, I'll take it as it comes. In fact I do not consider myself a celebrity and I do not understand what is going on. It is an honor that people want to take pictures with me and ask me for autographs, but for me it is incomprehensible.
He also told the site how he would persuade a non-Twilight fan to see the movie, saying that its "definitely a good love story with vampires, and a recipe that has proved successful." We're sure New Moon is going to impact his career in a positive way — out of all the actors portraying the Volturi, he definitely looks the most threatening. Lets just hope he can deliver a performance as good as his appearance. Posted 10.06.09 by reelz
Summit Entertainment released three more stills from New Moon, in addition to the Volturi images revealed last week.
The new stills show a close-up of Jane (Dakota Fanning) with the Cullens in the background; Aro, Caius, and Alec (Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cameron Bright) sitting atop some awesome looking thrones; and a red-eyed Demetri (Charlie Bewley) threatening Alice (Ashley Greene) in Italy.
We're glad to see that the contact lens issue from Twilight has been fixed — the last thing anyone wants to see is a super-strong vampire with itchy eyes. Dracula never had that problem, so why should the twenty-first-century Cullens? It looks like they switched undead optometrists just in time. Posted 09.01.09 by reelz
Today, Summit Entertainment sent the Twilight fandom into overdrive by releasing official images of New Moon's Volturi vampires. Marcus, Caius, Aro, Jane, and Alec are now all available for your viewing pleasure and, we have to admit, they look pretty awesome.
Placed in front of an atmospheric backdrop worthy of vampires everywhere, the Volturi look nothing less than creepy. Pale and menacing is the look Summit's gone for, and it's worked much better than we thought it would. Dakota Fanning looks particularly accurate as Jane, as does Cameron Bright, who's playing her twin brother Alec.
Michael Sheen, Christopher Heyerdahl, and Jamie Campbell Bower complete the Volturi, as ancient leaders Aro, Marcus, and Caius. Bower looks especially good, with slicked back blonde hair, and a black cloak to rival Dracula's. For anyone who thought New Moon would be all bark and no bite, think again — the vampires are back in business. Posted 08.27.09 by reelz
The first images of New Moon's Volturi vampire family have leaked online, originating from an anonymous, unnamed source. The images show Michael Sheen (Aro), Christopher Heyerdahl (Marcus), Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius), Dakota Fanning (Jane), and Cameron Bright (Alec) vamped and suited up, and looking every bit the part of their undead characters. Also shown is the Volturi crest, similar in style to the Cullen crest seen in Twilight.
Summit has hit the nail on the head here, with each of the Volturi members looking creepy and pale, and in no way like someone you'd want to meet in a dark, deserted place. Caius looks particularly menacing — more so than Jane, which is surprising, considering she has killer eye makeup. What do you think, Twilighters? Is this how you imagined the world's oldest Vampire clan? Posted 07.30.09 by reelz
Principal filming for New Moon is over for many of the movie's actors, including Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), and Ashley Greene (Alice).
In a recent tweet, Bower said "Cannot believe its over have had the best time and will miss the New Moon crew. Homeward bound tomorrow." Lainey Gossip also has pictures of Greene arriving at LAX, along with news that Robert Pattinson (Edward) is done filming until his Volterra scenes in Italy, having just finished shooting a dream sequence in the meadow. Kristen Stewart (Bella), Taylor Lautner (Jacob), and the other members of the Wolf Pack are presumably still hard at work, and were last seen holed up in Bella's house. Posted 05.15.09 by reelz
Jamie Campbell Bower, the young British actor currently playing Volturi member Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has been confirmed to star in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He's set to play dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, childhood best friend to Albus Dumbledore, in the final installments of the franchise.
The Deathly Hallows movies are due for release in 2010 and 2011, with the former currently shooting in Wales, England. Bower isn't the only Twilight actor to star in both rival movies. He now joins fellow Brit Robert Pattinson, who was seen in 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Here's hoping vampire and wizard fans will play nice with each other -- we'd hate for a franchise war to break out. Posted 05.15.09 by reelz
Lainey Gossip has posted pictures of Michael Sheen (Aro) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius) arriving in Vancouver to start shooting New Moon. Both actors currently look nothing like their characters, so let's just hope the makeup and costume department do a good job of turning them into evil, old, undead maniacs.
Also pictured is pint-sized Dakota Fanning (Jane), who made a stop at LAX before jetting off for the land of vampires (Vancouver). She's set to start filming any time now, and is due to head to Italy to film the Volterra scenes later this month. A free trip to Italy? No wonder she was so keen to accept the role.
