For The Expendables 2, only a lone female was added to the (previously) all-male group of new and returning action stars — Chinese actress Yu Nan. But with The Expendables 2 taking the top slot at last weekend's box office, it seems only a matter of time before The Expendables 3 becomes an inevitability. Hollywood Dailies caught up with the cast to see which actresses they feel could make it as a mercenary in the Expendables crew. who might be in Expendables 3? >> Posted 08.23.12 by Ryan
As Dolph Lundgren revealed to us earlier this week, there was only one way to go for the upcoming sequel The Expendables 2 and that's "bigger." Terry Crews and Randy Couture, reprising their roles from 2010's The Expendables, couldn't agree more.
"I think from start to finish, this movie [has] way more action," Couture told Hollywood Dailies. "You know, when I read the script, I'm like: 'How in the heck are we going to do that? I mean, it's impossible!' But we pull it off."
Outside of the returning Couture, Crews, Lundgren, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li, Liam Hemsworth and Yu Nan join the crew with assistance from Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. The ending sequence pits almost the entire Expendables 2 cast against villain Jean-Claude Van Damme, and both Couture and Crews said that it wasn't lost on the cast that there were so many action stars in one room.
"You look at all these characters...you might not get this again," said Crews. "So we gotta do it right." more about The Expendables 2 >> Posted 08.17.12 by Ryan
Last August, writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone stuffed enough current and former action stars into The Expendables to win audiences over and earn $274 million worldwide. Stallone instantly started talking about a sequel, using his Twitter to declare he wanted Bruce Willis back as a "supervillain" in the movie.
While we're not entirely sure of his intentions, Willis is back for The Expendables 2, along with fellow Expendables scene partner Arnold Schwarzenegger, with both actors having a more "substantial" role in the sequel, which has an even more expanded cast than the original. Strangely, details on the sequel have been scarce — a plot synopsis was revealed in May and involved the Expendables avenging the death of Mickey Rourke's character Tool, but was quickly dismissed. Fortunately, along with the teaser trailer comes a synopsis as well.

The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.
The first set photo that arrived online from the Bulgarian set of The Expendables 2 was Tweeted by Arnold Schwarzenegger and depicted the former California governor with co-stars Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone. With Schwarzenegger moving on to the production of Last Stand, the rest of the group are still hard at work, as evidenced by the recent crop of set photos that have arrived online.
The latest set pics reveal Stallone along with Expendables members Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and Dolph Lundgren, as well as newcomers Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. Missing from the photos are Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Mickey Rourke. But there's an easy reason why Rourke is absent: He isn't going to be in the movie. see the reason Rourke gave and more photos >> Posted 11.10.11 by Ryan
Ever since The Expendables exploded into theaters last August, earning $274 million worldwide, the question has been "what will writer/director star Sylvester Stallone do for a sequel?" Weeks after the movie's release, Stallone asked his Twitter followers what they thought of bringing Bruce Willis back as a villain, but hasn't mentioned too many other details regarding the sequel's plot or cast. So far, it's looking like the some of the original cast are returning.
Jason Statham, who played Stallone's right-hand man Lee Christmas in The Expendable admitted to Collider that he's "very positive" he'll return for the sequel.
Willis? Van Damme? Seagal? Norris? Posted 01.18.11 by Ryan
Yes I have heard about a sequel and I’d be the first to say yes to a phone call from Sly. I mean, we spoke about it as soon as the movie started to do really well and he says, you know, it would be great to do this again, and if there’s anyone who can do a good sequel it’s Sly Stallone! He’s done a fair amount. Yeah, we had a good time. It’s something I’d like to repeat.
A trailer for The Expendables briefly appeared online. In it, Sylvester Stallone teams up with a set of action movie all-stars, including Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Steve Austin, ,Terry Crews, and Randy Couture, as they head out to overthrow a South American dictator. It should be no surprise that Stallone is also directing the movie himself, from his own script.
Sadly, the cameos from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis didn't make it into the trailer. Posted 10.14.09 by Ryan
When Mickey Rourke was added to The Expendables, the action movie written, directed and starring Sylvester Stallone alongside Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and Dolph Lundgren, it seemed the only action stars left out of the cast were Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Now it's just Van Damme that's left out. According to AintItCoolNews, Schwarzenegger will be joining to play a small role in the movie, but while Van Damme will not appear, Eric Roberts will, taking over for Ben Kingsley as a CIA operative.
So, with so many action stars in the movie, why isn't Van Damme in the movie? Apparently, Stallone did offer Van Damme a role, but he turned it down.
Stallone gave me a part in his next movie," he told us. "But I ask him about the subject, about the story. He said, ‘You’re gonna make lots of money.’ I don’t want to hear that, I want to hear what was my character. He was unable to tell what it’s going to be. [Stallone said:] 'You know, uh, well, the fighting will be good.' [So I said:] 'Sly, what is my character?' So I didn’t do the movie.
The Expendables starts shooting next month with Stallone currently working on the script and "struggling to nail the right tonal balance of humor, action and emotional reality." Of course he is. Posted 02.18.09 by Ryan
Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables star-studded cast is adding a potential Oscar winner. The Wrestler's Mickey Rourke is set to join the production that already has Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren and recently announced Forest Whitaker set to star in the action movie. Variety reports Rourke will play an arms dealer that becomes a liason to a group of mercenaries that are trying to bring down a South American dictator.
Production begins in Brazil in March with Stallone directing from his own script. Posted 01.07.09 by Ryan
Sylvester Stallone, Randy Couture, Jet Li, Jason Statham and... Forest Whitaker? One of these names doesn't belong.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whitaker is in final negotiations to join the action-heavy cast list. Rather than joining in the fisticuffs, Whitaker's character will serve as the CIA liaison for a mercenary group played by Stallone, Li, Statham and Couture.
Stallone is also writing and directing The Expendables. Posted 01.05.09 by Ryan
