At the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, where The Twilight Saga took home 11 awards, Access Hollywood caught up with stars Alex Meraz (Paul), Ashley Greene (Alice) and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper). It wasn't long before talk turned to the upcoming fourth movie Breaking Dawn, which has already caused quite a debate among fans of the well-loved saga.
Greene talked about how the Teen Choice Awards "definitely hit their [Twilight] demographic", while Rathbone joked about how noise levels caused him to "lose a certain amount of treble in his hearing". He went on to talk about the fans, saying "to have that adoration, that support and love, that's what you need as an artist. It really fulfills you". When will they shoot? In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, hunky werewolf actor Alex Meraz (Paul) talked about his character in third installment Eclipse.
He mentions one scene in particular, which, due to Bella's first person narrative, was never fully shown in the book. The scene consists of a fight between wolf Paul and vampire Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz), and will be seen in the upcoming movie adaptation. Meraz said of the fight:
"The fans are going to love this film. I didn't get my chance to touch anybody in New Moon. This time I go at it with Emmett. I give him a nice bitch slap. But I'm in wolf form, so maybe it's a big paw slap? Oh, and there's a lot more action. It's more Paul wolf. You're going to see my wolf form doing a lot ofstuff. You'll just see me running around shirtless once and a while."
This is just one of the reasons The Twilight Saga translates to the big screen so well—due to Stephenie Meyer's epic page counts, there are always unseen scenes to adapt, and a truckload of happy fans left in their wake. Do you think Eclipse is going to be the best saga movie so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Posted 05.06.10 by reelz
The latest New Moon wolfpack featurette is now online, and includes CGI clips, behind-the-scenes secrets, and short interviews with the cast and crew.
Director Chris Weitz says, "The world of the werewolves is also a world of amazing CGI", while wolfpack actors Taylor Lautner, Chaske Spencer, and Alex Meraz talk about the inner workings of the La Push wolves.
Check out the behind the scenes footage below — trust us, you don't want to miss Taylor Lautner suspended in mid-air, or Robert Pattinson throwing jealous-Edward-eyes in Jacob's direction. All's fair in fictional love triangles, right? Posted 10.30.09 by reelz
Entertainment Tonight premiered a new scene from New Moon yesterday, which was then made available on iTunes.
The clip shows the wolfpack, led by Sam Uley (Chaske Spencer), facing down Bella (Kristen Stewart) and later Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Bella slaps an angry Paul (Alex Meraz), who then transforms into a werewolf and goes after our heroine. Luckily for her, Team Jacob comes to the rescue and wolfs out, himself.
Fans that pay particular attention to this clip will notice that wolf Jacob looks more, well, wolf-like. Gone are the days of a Lassie clone, and in its place is a fierce, ragged werewolf. Check out the new scene below, and let us know your verdict in the comments. Posted 10.20.09 by reelz
It's a good thing the ballroom at the Sheraton Dallas is rather large. Even so, space was tight for the more than 2,500 fans who lined up to see and hear Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Billy Burke, Christian Serratos, Jackson Rathbone, and newcomer to the franchise, Alex Meraz.
Deafening applause filled much of the 40-minute Q&A session, during which the cast took pre-written questions from the fans. A definite highlight was when Burke made paper planes with handwritten notes and threw them into the audience. But what really made fans go wild was Facinelli running down the ballroom aisle to hand deliver one of the planes to an incredibly lucky fan.
Things got a little saucy when Meraz received a request to "take off his shirt" from a fan who's clearly spent some time gazing at the wolf pack's publicity shot, which has several six-packs on display. When asked how he prepared for his role as Paul, Meraz answered "by working out and eating lots of steak."
Serratos talked about how she likes Vancouver, filming location of the just-shot The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the soon-to-start Eclipse. She also mentioned how much she enjoyed working with director Chris Weitz.
When asked what Jasper would name his band if he were a musician, Rathbone promptly responded, "The Ungrateful Dead or 100 Vampires."
Facinelli differentiated his doctor characters in Twilight and Nurse Jackie by saying Dr. Carlisle Cullen is as cool as ice and is the pillar of his family, while Dr. "Coop" is a catastrophe and in constant chaos. Posted 08.01.09 by reelz
When The Twilight Saga: New Moon cast suited up for Vampire Baseball on the Fourth of July, we were there with our cameras. Along with catching the on-field action, we had the chance to talk with some of the movie's cast. You can see both in the clip below. And be sure to tune in Monday, July 13, at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT for our look at the Twilight phenomenon. Posted 07.10.09 by reelz
Turns out Carlise Cullen isn't the only vampire with a compassionate streak. This 4th of July, in a benefit for the Make-A-Wish foundation of Oregon, some of the Twilight and New Moon cast members are taking part in a day of Vampire Baseball.
The Portland event starts with a fans game in the morning. Some of the winners from that game will then face off with cast in the afternoon, playing a game in front of stands filled with Twilighters. A percentage of ticket sales from the event benefit the charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
If you can't make it to the event — scheduled to have Rachelle Lefevre, Peter Facinelli, Edi Gathegi, Michael Welch, Solomon Trimble, Christian Serratos, Ayanna Berkshire, Catherine Grimme, Alex Meraz, and Kiowa Gordon at bat — don't worry. We're going to be there to report on it and will have footage to share in coming weeks.
And yes, you read that right. Even the evil Victoria is choosing to spend her holiday helping kids. Posted 07.02.09 by reelz
Now that you've met the new Volturi cast, it's time to introduce you to the actors, most of them relatively unknown, who will be rounding out Taylor Lautner's wolf pack.
Early reports from the fansites tell us that Team Edward and Team Jacob have some worthy competition. Check out the new New Moon Wolf Pack and let us know what you think of Chris Weitz's casting choices. Posted 04.26.09 by reelz
Robert Pattinson may have just met his heartthrob match in the form of four toned, topless werewolves. Summit released the first New Moon promotional picture, which shows Alex Meraz (Paul), Chaske Spencer (Sam), Bronson Pelletier (Jared), and Kiowa Gordon (Embry) looking moody and decidedly non-canine. Note the tattoo they're all sporting, which looks like it could be the Quileute equivalent of a Cullen Crest.
Twilighters are the most excited they've been for months, which is proof enough that the fandom is as strong as ever. The much-anticipated sequel hits theaters on November 20th, with midnight openings inevitable. It's tipped to take more cash than predecessor Twilight, which has grossed just under $380 million dollars worldwide to date. Posted 04.22.09 by reelz
