With Kevin Greutert forced out of the Paranormal Activity 2 director's chair by Lionsgate, Paramount has been searching for a replacement and are reportedly deciding between Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Rogue), Brad Anderson (Session 9, Transsiberian), and Brian De Palma (Carrie, Scarface), and even spoke to Academy-Award winning screen writer Akiva Goldsman as well. Deadline reports that Goldsman is officially out as director, but will stay on as an executive producer and is currently helping Oren Peli flesh out the story for the anticipated sequel.
With Paranormal 2 set to battle Saw VII for box office supremacy on October 22, a decision needs to be made soon, or at least, prior to its May production start.
As for what will happen in the sequel, no one will say, though Paranormal actor Micah Sloat told MTV that the sequel won't suck.
All I can tell you is I'm very excited for the project, it's really cool, it's gonna be really interesting and it's not gonna suck, which most horror sequels... would. This is gonna be good. Well we have money now, but we're staying true to the heart of the movie, to the spirit of it, to the vision. That's all I can say. Posted 03.18.10 by Ryan
