In a word, groovy...
The remake of Evil Dead recently debuted footage during a panel at the New York Comic-Con (NYCC), with the footage later going online in a bootleg form. Sony Pictures quickly took down the footage and plan to reveal the remake's first teaser tomorrow, but, like Iron Man 3 already proved this week, no good trailer can be released without a teaser for the trailer arriving first.
Incorporating quotes from lead actress Jane Levy, director Fede Alvarez and producer/former lead Bruce Campbell from the NYCC panel, the teaser also offers a few snippets of footage that is sure to swallow your soul. all the latest trailers, screwheads

Director Sam Raimi's 1981 cult horror movie The Evil Dead wasn't an instant success, but eventually spawned into a franchise, including 1987's Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn and 1992's Army of Darkness, and helped launch the careers of actor Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice), producer Robert Tapert (30 Days of Night) and Raimi, who eventually directed three Spider-Man movies. While Raimi has discussed making an Evil Dead 4 over the past several years, it was Campbell who first mentioned the possibility of an Evil Dead remake. "We're probably going to do a remake," Campbell said back in 2009. "We want to make it a scary movie with technology that we can now finally use where you don't see garden hoses spewing fake blood."
Years later, a remake of Evil Dead is in the works from newcomer director Fede Alvarez with a cast that sees Jane Levy (Suburgatory) take over as Mia, the character that, like Campbell's Ash, will try to lead a group of friends to safety after their trip to a remote cabin is interrupted by evil spirits unleashed by the discovery of the mystical Book of the Dead. While some Evil Dead fans will be disappointed that there will be no new version of Campbell's character, the comic book version of Evil Dead is already debuting a new female "Ash" character, perhaps in anticipation of the upcoming remake. Levy, meanwhile, recently told The Insider that she as "excited" about her role in the remake, which the actress described as "dark." campbell talks remake >> Posted 02.20.12 by Ryan
Well, that was fast. Just yesterday, Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) was cast as the male lead in the upcoming Evil Dead remake, and now the female lead has been filled as well.
Deadline reports Jane Levy (Suburgatory) has landed the role of Mia, the part Lily Collins (Abduction, the upcoming Mirror Mirror) was cast in last month until she a dropped out recently. Like director Sam Raimi's 1981 original, Evil Dead will be about five friends who head to a remote cabin for the weekend and end up finding the Book of the Dead and inadvertently unleash demons who end up possessing the friends one-by-one. Mia is going to the cabin to detox from a recent overdose, and ends up being the counterpoint to Ash, the protagonist played by Bruce Campbell in the trilogy of Evil Dead movies.
