It's been nearly thirty years since a traditional Muppet movie has been released in theaters. More recently, Jim Henson's Muppets have been featured in remakes of classic novels or made-for-TV Christmas specials, but this month's The Muppets seems to be far more in keeping with fuzzy classics like The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper. And while some may think that with so many clips out there the whole movie has been given away, we're always excited to catch another glimpse of Muppet mayhem. watch two new clips >> Posted 11.09.11 by Mandy
In the first preview clip released yesterday, Muppets fans had their first real introduction to the newest fuzzy family member, Walter. Though the clip was less than a minute in length, it was enough to learn that Walter has a sweet disposition but he's not gullible. After all, it's not like he believes everything he reads online.
In two more brand-new clips, we discover even more. First, we learn that being an editor at Paris Vogue hasn't kept Miss Piggy from keeping up with her martial arts training or from going to brunch regularly. In the second clip, we come to understand that some people still talk like prohibition-era mobsters and that newcomer Walter can always be counted on to come up with a great plan in a pinch. watch the clips >> Posted 11.03.11 by Mandy
The promotional campaign for The Muppets has largely focused on parody trailers. But, with the parodies now out of the way, the first preview clip has been released.
The movie follows Jason Segel as Gary, who travels with his girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) and his roommate Walter, the world's biggest Muppets fan, to Los Angeles to tour Muppets Studio. There, the three reunite the Muppets and help to save their theater from a wealthy oilman (Chris Cooper) who is intent on drilling for oil beneath the theater. In the clip, Gary lets Walter know that he is invited to come along on their trip to Muppets Studio. watch the clip >> Posted 11.02.11 by Ryan
Just when you think the Muppets have reached the pinnacle of sweet, charming humor with their trailers, it turns out they haven't. This newest trailer for The Muppets is straightforward, not a parody of another movie, and though their parodies are amazing, the Muppets are the best when they are doing their own thing.
Though we enjoy Amy Adam's daintiness at declining to take a seat, and a bunch of chickens singing Cee Lo's "(Forget) You" is pretty amazing, our favorite bit is when they decide to take Indiana Jones' usual mode of travel when they go to Paris.
Though this is writers Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller's first foray into the world of fuzzy comedy, it's clear that they know what they're doing here. Watch the trailer >> Posted 10.13.11 by Mandy
The Vancouver set of the upcoming Superman franchise reboot, Man of Steel, is proving to be a fertile opportunity for "spy" photos. Earlier this week, Russell Crowe stepped outside the studio to smoke a cigarette and was caught in full costume as Jor-El, Superman's biological father.
The latest set photos depict a bearded and shoeless Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) looking much like a homeless man on the Canadian set, which is doubling for Alaska in the movie. Reportedly, Man of Steel finds Superman wandering the globe and trying to find himself and understand his powers, though an official synopsis has yet to be released by Warner Bros. Should the storyline be true, it would explain Cavill's hobo-like appearance. Of course Cavill will also suit up as Superman, as revealed in the movie's first official photo. more about Man of Steel >> Posted 10.07.11 by Ryan
So far, the publicity for this fall's The Muppets has been pretty fun, including a Hangover parody trailer, an OK Go video, and a sneaky fake rom-com trailer.
This week, the makers of the fuzzy epic continue their play with pop-culture references, posting a pic on the movie's Facebook page that shows the lovable giant Sweetums wearing the crazy Philip Treacy hat that Princess Beatrice made famous at the royal wedding last spring. Who knew that Sweetums, who usually wears what looks like torn burlap, had $131,000 to spend on a new fascinator?
The Muppets opens November 23, stars Amy Adams and Jason Segel, along with Kermit, Missy Pigg, Sweetums, and the rest of the Muppet crew. Posted 09.14.11 by Mandy
Olivia Munn (The Daily Show) is the latest to join director Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike. The independent stripper movie follows Channing Tatum as the title character, who teaches a younger, inexperienced dancer (Alex Pettyfer) how to hustle and has been described by Soderbergh as "sexy, funny and shocking."
Last week we saw a large group of actors join the cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Matthew Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Riley Keough and Cody Horn. With Keough grabbing the role of Pettyfer's love interest, Deadline reports that Munn will play the role of Amber, the love interest to Tatum's Mike. Of course, stripping will likely still be Magic Mike's first love.
Written by Reid Carolin (Earth Made of Glass), Magic Mike was loosely based on Tatum's own experiences as an exotic dancer when he was 18. Production begins next month. Amy Adams possibly on the way to The Orphanage; The Rock Confirms Latest G.I. Joe 2 recruit >> Posted 09.01.11 by Ryan
The Beatles had the White album. Jay-Z had his Black album. Well, now the Muppets have the Green Album. In anticipation of the upcoming Muppets movie, Disney has released an album of classic Muppett songs covered by some of today's trendiest bands, including The Fray, My Morning Jacket, Matt Nathanson, and OK Go.
The video for OK Go's cover of the Muppet Show Theme Song has just been released — take OK Go, with its reputation for producing eye-popping and clever videos, add in the nostalgia of the Muppets, and you get a pretty entertaining video. The band even references some of its earlier music videos. watch the video >> Posted 08.23.11 by Chris
If you were looking forward to the romantic comedy Green with Envy starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams, you may be in for a surprise.
Wrapped inside that trailer is the first trailer for Walt Disney's upcoming The Muppets. The trailer begins telling a romantic story gone wrong between Adams and Segel, but eventually the Muppets make their way into the trailer and have fun with the fake out nature of the trailer itself. watch the trailer >> Posted 05.23.11 by Ryan
American audiences who may be unfamiliar with Henry Cavill, the British actor recently chosen to be the new Man of Steel in director Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, will first get a chance to see Cavill as a "man of bronze" in Indian director Tarsem Singh's (The Cell) new swords-and-sandals fantasy epic, Immortals, when it opens in November. Cavill made an appearance at the recent WonderCon comic book and popular arts convention in San Francisco in support of Immortals, in which he plays the lead role of Theseus, and, while he demurred from discussing Superman: The Man of Steel (working title) with most reporters, MTV managed to get him to open up about his approach to the character and how he feels about Amy Adams being chosen to play Lois Lane. hear what cavill had to say about Superman >> Posted 04.06.11 by BrentJS
