In terms of audience anticipation, all that Men in Black III has to do is not repeat the mistakes of 2002's Men in Black II and the third installment can be considered some kind of success. It's simple — be more like the first Men in Black and no one will remember how the movie went on hiatus so that the script could be finished and the other production delays that have looked like a cause for alarm for a big-budget production. "We knew starting the movie that we didn't have a finished second or third act," director Barry Sonnenfeld recently told Empire Magazine (via The Playlist). "Was it responsible? The answer is, if this movie does as well as I think it will, it was genius. If it's a total failure, then it was a really stupid idea."
As we said before, all that Men in Black III has to accomplish is to avoid being as awful as Men in Black II was universally seen to be, and, so far, the movie's trailers look like Sonnenfeld and company has pulled it off. The key is Josh Brolin, whose uncanny impersonation of Tommy Lee Jones should prove entertaining as the 1960s version of Jones' Agent K, though it's likely that younger audiences are going to love watching Will Smith's Agent J say things like "shiznit" in the sequel's latest trailer. watch the trailer >> Posted 03.05.12 by Ryan
