Author Elmore Leonard has had a prolific writing career that goes back to the 1950's and has had several of his books turned into movies, including 1995's Get Shorty, 1997's Jackie Brown (based on his novel Rum Punch) and 1998's Out of Sight, to name a few. The latest adaptation is Freaky Deaky, Leonard's 1988 novel about a couple of '60s radicals that decide to make money in the 1970s with their bomb-making skills, which is being adapted and directed by Charles Matthau. The movie is already assembling a great cast.
Deadline reports that Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, William H. Macy and Craig Robinson have joined the cast of Freaky Deaky. Dillon will play Chris Mankowski, a Vietnam veteran turned Detroit police sergeant on the force's bomb squad, while Fraser will play Skip Gibbs, a former '60s radical who's now a Hollywood dynamite expert. Macy plays an alcoholic playboy millionaire who is threatened by Skip and his girlfriend to pay $3 million or have his house blown up, and Robinson plays Donnell Lewis, Woody's driver and ex-Black Panther who is looking to cash in. Sienna Miller was already cast as Robin, the other '60s radical and Skip's girlfriend, last week. read the full synopsis >> Posted 06.04.11 by Ryan
