In the wake of Brittany Murphy's untimely death, the DVD rental company Redbox has decided to pull the artwork of the actress' latest direct-to-DVD movie, Deadline, from their kiosks. The artwork depicts a seemingly lifeless Murphy in a bathtub, which is eerily reminiscent of how the actress was found in her Hollywood bathroom.
Redbox spokeswoman Laura Dihel told E! News:
We are removing the box art images from our displays. We will continue to carry her film, but we will not be featuring the box art. We have 19,000 locations, and to be honest, I can't tell you if this particular art is up at all the locations.
In the movie, Murphy plays a screenwriter who has a psychological breakdown after discovering videos recorded by past residents of the haunted mansion where she is trying to complete a script. The artwork has already been removed from the Redbox website and the company hopes to have all copies of the artwork removed from kiosks by January 1. Posted 12.24.09 by BrentJS
TMZ is reporting that Brittany Murphy died of cardiac arrest earlier this morning. The 32-year-old star made her breakthrough opposite Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and went on to star in 8 Mile, Girl, Interrupted, Little Black Book, and Sin City.
Reports claim Murphy's mother discovered her unconscious in the shower at the home of her husband, Simon Monjack. The LA Fire Department says a 911 was placed around 8:00 a.m. and that paramedics administered CPR immediately upon arrival. Murphy remained unresponsive as they transferred her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was pronounced dead on arrival, shortly after 10 a.m.
The LAPD is launching a death investigation, and a representative for Murphy made the following statement:
In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.

The fantasy comedy about a grad student who discovers an eccentric group of residents hiding a terrible secret when she is stationed on a remote northern island will start filming in Nova Scotia in November. Sounds like The Shipping News meets Waking Ned Devine to us...
...The Incredible Hulk is getting a boost in the form of Christina Cabot (Fight Club), who has signed on to join Edward Norton, Tim Roth, Liv Tyler, and William Hurt in the comic-inspired sequel to 2003's Hulk. Cabot will be playing an aide to Bruce-Banner-chaser, General Ross (Hurt)...
And finally, not only is there going to be an Ace Ventura 3, but it will star a kid. Twelve-year-old Josh Flitter, most recently seen as Robin Williams' creepy sidekick in License to Wed, has signed to star in the 'comedy,' which will follow Ace Ventura's son (Flitter) as he too becomes a pet detective who must find out who stole a baby panda to exonerate his wrongly-accused mother. Sounds like someone needed money to buy a new pool.
