Despite the somewhat lackluster performances of superhero movies this summer — no doubt due, at least in part, to the fact that there are more superhero movies to choose from this summer than ever before — Hollywood is far from giving up on comic book adaptations. In fact, there are more than a dozen major comic book movies in active development right now, with more being announced all of the time.
Just last month, Paramount snapped up the rights to DC Comics' The Mighty with the intention of turning it into a live-action movie. Now, Variety reports Paramount has hired Drew Pearce to pen the movie adaptation of The Mighty. Pearce seems a good choice for the project since he has a relatively strong superhero background as the creator and writer of the British superhero-comedy sitcom No Heroics and as the writer of The Runaways for Marvel Studios, a project that has been shelved, but which earned him co-writer duties on Iron Man 3 alongside director Shane Black. more about The Mighty >> Posted 07.31.11 by BrentJS
