After another casting rumor (Zooey Deschanel as Betty Brant) dominated the news about Sony's upcoming reboot of Spider-Man, reports now have another role cast. THR reports that Denis Leary is in talks to portray police captain George Stacy, the father to Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), Peter Parker's love interest.
In the comic books, Captain Stacy is accidentally killed during a fight between Spider-man and Doctor Octopus (in The Amazing Spider-Man #90), though it's likely the movie will stray from the source material. The villain in the reboot has yet to be announced, though Rhys Ifans has been cast in the unspecified role. The character of Captain Stacy did not perish in Spider-Man 3, where James Cromwell played the part.
James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent wrote the screenplay for the movie, which director Marc Webb is keeping a closely-guarded secret. Here's what's for sure: Andrew Garfield will play Peter Parker, Stone and Leary will play the Stacy family, Ifans is the villain, Martin Sheen was cast as Uncle Ben, and Sally Field is rumored to be negotiating for the role of Aunt May.
The untitled Spider-Man reboot opens on July 3, 2012. Posted 11.18.10 by Ryan
Despite having voiced the loveable sloth Sid in two previous Ice Age films, comedian John Leguizamo found that he had to prepare himself to voice the character in the third film, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs:
I've got to walk around the house a lot the day before, working on the lisp so that it's not too much, that it's just right.
Sid's a vulnerable character, with a higher-pitched voice than you'd think. So I have to tighten up, get the voice up there so that he doesn't sound like a sloth who's been out partying all night.
In addition to Leguizamo reprising his role as the voice of Sid, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs features the return of Ray Romano as the voice of Manny, Queen Latifah as Ellie, and Denis Leary as Diego. Posted 06.29.09 by BrentJS
