They say truth is stranger than fiction. Based on a memoir, We Bought a Zoo follows single father Matt Damon as he purchases a dilapidated zoo and moves his family there to refurbish it. While the book's author (Benjamin Mee) and his family reopened the dilapidated Dartmoor Zoological Park in England, director Cameron Crowe moves the story from England to California, saving Damon and co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Thomas Hayden Church and Elle Fanning from having to don English accents. watch the trailer >> Posted 09.15.11 by Ryan
Francis Ford Coppola's latest takes him back to the horror genre that launched his career. Twixt is set to debut at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and Coppola and American Zoetrope have released an extended teaser trailer for the movie.
Twixt is an Edgar Allan Poe–inspired independent horror movie that stars Val Kilmer as a struggling horror writer who stumbles upon strange happenings in a small California town. Coppola revealed some footage from the movie at the last month's Comic-Con, some of which was in 3-D so the audience was supplied with Edgar Allan Poe paper masks with 3-D glasses built in. Coppola revealed to Hall H (via Wired) that he isn't a fan of watching an entire 3-D movie. watch the trailer >> Posted 08.03.11 by Ryan

Our first Facebook movie game, ClusterFlick, plays off that old "six degrees of separation" theory — you know, the one that has a certain Kevin at the center of the Hollywood universe. It's easy to play, but not so easy to win. The goal is to use the major cast of movies to get from Point A to Point B in the smallest number of moves.

Don't be alarmed just because Super 8 doesn't have a 2/3/4 or colon in its title signifying it's part of a franchise. We understand it can be hard to take these things, but *gasp* it's an original movie. That's right, it's a summer blockbuster that's not simply a rehash of what you saw two years ago — a new concept graced with the big budget and great special effects given to sequels. That alone should pique your interest. If you need more convincing, we've got five excellent reasons why Super 8 is the movie to see this weekend.

In this clip, Mary's belief in the nutcracker (voiced by Shirley Henderson) helps the little wooden soldier come to life. watch the official trailer >> Posted 11.14.10 by BrentJS

Paramount has decide to announce the cast for writer-director J.J. Abrams' upcoming sci-fi movie Super 8 after news of two of the cast members was scooped earlier this week.
Starring Emmy-nominated Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Elle Fanning (Somewhere, winner of the 2010 Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion Award), the cast includes veteran actors Ron Eldard and Noah Emmerich, newcomers Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills, and Gabriel Basso (The Big C).
What characters the actors may play is unknown, as is the plot of the movie, though a trailer has revealed some kind of monster (or alien, perhaps) trying to emerge from a train car. A casting notice discovered in May gave some details on three pre-teen roles, which, if the casting notice is truly for Super 8, give a brief glimpse into the super-secret movie. Writer-director J.J. Abrams has been doing an excellent job of keeping his upcoming Super 8 movie a secret, but if a Vulture report is to be believed, the first two cast members have been revealed. Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning have reportedly joined the cast of the movie. What roles they would play is unknown, as no synopsis for Super 8 has been released.
In May, Bloody-Disgusting got its hands on a believed Super 8 casting notice, which listed three roles for teenagers, including one female role. Is Fanning "Natalie" in the casting notice? >> Posted 09.20.10 by Ryan
