Relativity Media recently debuted the first piece of promo art for its upcoming Snow White adaptation, director Tarsem Singh's Untitled Snow White Project (formerly titled The Brothers Grimm: Snow White), in a two-page ad announcing the start of principal photography.
Seemingly in an effort to gain some sort of exposure for its own Snow White adaptation in development, Universal Pictures has announced that the first of Snow White's (Kristen Stewart) seven dwarfs has been cast in Snow White and the Huntsman. According to THR, Ian McShane, who most recently appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as Blackbeard, has signed on to play Caesar, the leader of the dwarfs, in director Rupert Sanders' adaptation of the classic fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. more about Snow White and the Huntsman >> Posted 06.21.11 by BrentJS
Funny, we were relatively sure that the whole Pirates of the Caribbean series was supposed to be a trilogy — even when that made little sense. But then plots and common sense were never a big part of Pirates, considering that even Johnny Depp, himself, didn't understand what was going on in the second and third pictures. Still, it's the big release for the week and we'd be remiss if we didn't admit we were still going to see it for the following reasons.

Over the course of three movies, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) has faced an assortment of motley villains, from British naval officers to undead pirates and mythological denizens of the deep. However, in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Disney's reluctant hero will face his greatest threat yet — a "biker pirate" played by Ian McShane. Actually, Sparrow's nemesis in the fourth Pirates movie is the notorious pirate Catbeard, er...Blackbeard, who forces Capt. Jack to help him search for the fabled Fountain of Youth. At least that's how McShane described his character in a recent interview with ContactMusic.

It was a pleasure to shoot [On Stranger Tides]. I was only glad it finished so I could get rid of the beard! It was the heaviest thing — it was like having a dead cat around my face! It was made in three or four pieces and held on by magnets and God knows what else. It took an hour and a half to put on every day. It was sort of spectacular. He was a real biker pirate — it's all black leather.
On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is headed to theaters next month with Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, and Ian McShane. Director Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer will arrive in theaters next summer.
Box Office Mojo reports New Line Pictures has set the movie to open on June 15, 2012, opposite the Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You, Dad.
Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Darren Lemke, and Mark Bonback, Jack the Giant Killer is a retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale that sees a young farmer named, appropriately, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) who leads a rescue attempt to save a princess (Eleanor Tomlinson, who won the role over Adelaide Kane earlier this month) that has been kidnapped by a giant. Bill Nighy, and John Kassir play the two-headed leader of the giants, Stanley Tucci plays the king's villainous adviser, and Ewan McGregor was cast last month as the leader of the king's guard. AS for who will play the king, that was also answered this week.
THR reported earlier this week that Ian McShane, fresh from portraying the pirate Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will play King Brahmwell, who disapproves of his daughter's romance with the young farmer. Posted 03.25.11 by Ryan
