While it wasn't a huge surprise, Hasbro CEO and Transformers producer Brian Goldner revealed a few days ago that the toy company was in talks with director Michael Bay, producer Steven Spielberg, and Paramount Pictures about Transformers 4 (working title). This summer's Transformers: Dark of the Moon grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, and now a few new reports show what might be in store for future installments.
Bay has already claimed that he wants to direct the low-budget, dark comedy Pain & Gain next, which, at the very least, means that Hasbro and Paramount have to wait for Bay's services to become available. Should Bay return to the director's chair, he could be directing not one, but two Transformers sequels back-to-back. no Transporting the Transformers >> Posted 10.19.11 by Ryan
With two Jason Statham movies opening in the next two months, it looked like the fall was going to be the "season of Statham" until the action thriller Safe moved from October to next March. But taking the place of Safe is director Géla Babluani's 13 to go along with September's Killer Elite.
Set in the world of underground Russian Roulette gambling, 13 is an English-language remake of the 2005 French thriller 13 Tzameti, both of which were directed by Babluani. The original won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2006, while the English-language version was shot in 2008 and disappeared after premiering at the South By Southwest Festival last March, outside of a trailer last November. With a cast that includes Mickey Rourke, Ray Winstone, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Michael Shannon, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgård, Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Dexter's David Zayas, did 13 deserved to sit on a shelf for almost two years? Only one way to find out. watch the trailer >> Posted 09.16.11 by Ryan
Sylvester Stallone's 2010 ode to he-man action movies of yore, The Expendables, was so jam-packed with action icons — from Chinese martial arts superstar Jet Li to WWE Hall of Fame wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and everyone in between — that the build-up to The Expendables 2 has pretty much been dominated by speculation over which cast members will be returning and which new action heroes will be joining the sequel. Recent casting rumors run the full gamut of possible additions, from legends like Chuck Norris to teen-favorites like Taylor Lautner, but so far only four members of the original cast have been confirmed: Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Statham confirmed his appearance in The Expendables 2 at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting his latest movie, Killer Elite. He went on to say that he didn't know "who the f*ck" else would be joining the cast. He did reveal, however, that the sequel will be going into production in Bulgaria "in two weeks time." what did Statham say about The Expendables 2? >> Posted 09.12.11 by BrentJS
The upcoming thriller Killer Elite has had several new clips released of late, but none of them have featured Robert De Niro. The movie stars Jason Statham as an ex-special ops agent who comes out of retirement to rescue his mentor (De Niro), but most of the clips have shown Statham trying to escape from Clive Owen, who leads a group of assassins in the movie.
The latest preview clip shows Statham rescue De Niro from his incarceration, a situation that was last covered in the movie's second trailer. Watch the clip >> Posted 09.06.11 by Ryan
The upcoming thriller Killer Elite won't open for another few weeks, but at the rate that Open Road Films is releasing preview clips, we may get to watch the entire movie by the time it reaches theaters.
Killer Elite stars Jason Statham as an ex-special ops agent who comes out of retirement to rescue his mentor (Robert De Niro) from a group of assassins led by Clive Owen. With the two clips already released in early August, another action-packed clip debuted earlier this week which showed Statham on the run from Owen and his bullets and, possibly, his disturbing mustache. The latest preview clip again sees Owen chase after Statham, though this time Statham is behind the wheel, and we all know that The Transporter knows how to drive. watch the clip >> Posted 09.02.11 by Ryan
Now that summer is over, movie audiences can look forward to the fall movie line-up, which includes two movies starring Jason Statham: September's action thriller Killer Elite and October's action thriller Safe. While Safe has Statham back in Transporter mode, rescuing a kidnapped girl, Killer Elite stars him as an ex-special ops agent who comes out of retirement to rescue his mentor (Robert De Niro) from a group of assassins led by Clive Owen and his ill-advised mustache.
With less than a month before the movie opens, Open Road Films has released another action-packed preview clip, following the two clips released earlier this month. The latest clip sees Statham on the run, while Owen chases after him. watch the clip >> Posted 08.29.11 by Ryan
The upcoming action thriller Killer Elite won't be released until September, but that hasn't stopped Open Road Films from getting the word out. While the first trailer for the movie debuted in June, this week has seen the release of two preview clips as well as a brand new trailer (via SlashFilm).
Starring Jason Statham as an ex-special ops agent who comes out of retirement to rescue his mentor (Robert De Niro), Killer Elite's two preview clips all but ignored De Niro, something that the latest trailer wants to change. watch the trailer >> Posted 08.03.11 by Ryan
Last month, the first trailer for the upcoming action thriller Killer Elite was released, giving audiences the first look at the pairing of Jason Statham and Robert De Niro against a creepily mustachioed Clive Owen.
Based on the 1991 espionage novel The Feather Men by former British Army officer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Killer Elite is being promoted as a "true story" (despite claims that Fiennes' novel was false) and follows Statham as a an ex-special ops agent who comes out of retirement to rescue his mentor (De Niro) from a group of assassins, led by Owens. Yahoo! has released two action-packed preview clips from the movie which show more of the movie's action in preparation for its September release date. watch the clips >> Posted 08.02.11 by Ryan
New photos and a trailer were recently released for the upcoming action movie Killer Elite, which sees Jason Statham in yet another special ops agent character, this time hunting down an evil Clive Owen. Before Killer Elite bows in September, however, audiences will be treated to another Statham action thriller, Blitz.
Set in Statham's native Britain, Blitz casts the action star as Detective Sergeant Tom Brant, who is on the hunt for a serial killer (The Wire's Aidan Gillen) who targets other police officers. The movie was adapted from the novel by Irish pulp novelist Ken Bruen, who has a series of novels featuring the Brant character. Blitz opened in the UK in May, with IGN claiming that the movie "could be start of a beautiful franchise" that casts Statham as "a much more complex character than we're used to seeing." While not quite as glowing, The Guardian called it "oddly entertaining."
The latest trailer for Blitz, and an intenational trailer that debuted last October, are all we Yanks have to go on that the UK reviews are correct. watch the trailer >> Posted 07.15.11 by Ryan
Prior to the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, franchise star Shia LaBeouf revealed that the third installment in the Transformers franchise would be his last. LaBeouf said that he thought the franchise was "still a hot property" and realizes that the producers might "reboot it at some point with someone else" — just not with himself nor director Michael Bay.
Transformers 4 has yet to be announced by studio Paramount Pictures, but speculation is bound to begin now that Dark of the Moon has helped the studio become the first to earn a billion dollars this year in domestic box office. That's a billion dollars domestic, not taking into account foreign box office. In its opening holiday weekend alone, Dark of the Moon earned $116 million, domestically.
So if LaBeouf isn't going to be in a fourth Transformers, who will be? ShowBizSpy is convinced it'll be action movie star Jason Statham. rumor or not? >> Posted 07.06.11 by Ryan
