Yesterdays child actors, today's superstars!
We're all too familiar with the supposed "curse" of being a child actor. A darling child with a precocious knack for acting grows up with too much fame and fortune and too little (or the wrong kind of) parental supervision and they grow up to become a tabloid headline and late night talk show punchline. Or, worse yet, they don't make it to adulthood at all. Lindsay, Amanda, Corey, Macaulay, Demi, Miley...the list goes on and on. Just as we can't look away as we slowly pass by a terrible accident on the freeway, we often find ourselves compelled to stare at the wreckage so many child stars make of their adulthood.
Though the stories of tragic former child stars may make for juicier reading while standing in line at the check-out stand, the great majority of child actors grow up to become well-adjusted adults. Most leave acting behind and move on to "normal" careers as teachers, bankers or software engineers, but many remain in show business, finding even greater success as an adult. Russian director Sergei Bodrov's (Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) new movie, Seventh Son, was first introduced at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con during a presentation hosted by Legendary Pictures. Since that time, virtually nothing has been heard about the fantasy action adventure that stars Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) as an aging knight. With production currently underway, Lionsgate and Warner Bros. have finally offered a few more clues about the movie, releasing a detailed plot synopsis and a piece of concept art reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings. read the synopsis and see the concept art >> Posted 03.28.12 by BrentJS
Thanks to the efforts of dedicated paparazzi — and the dumb luck of one fan with a video camera — we've now gotten a look at all of the principal actors in director Robert Schwentke's follow-up to RED (2010), the supernatural action-comedy R.I.P.D.. The movie follows a supernatural police force, the Rest in Peace Department, and the exploits of its newest member, the recently deceased Nick (Ryan Reynolds), and his crusty partner, Bo (Jeff Bridges), a gunslinger who has been dead since the 1800s.
After R.I.P.D. went into production in Boston two weeks ago, the first "spy" footage of the shoot was captured by a baseball fan who just happened to be sitting in the same row at Fenway Park that Marisa Miller and James Hong happened to traverse while filming a scene as the human avatars of Bridges' and Reynolds' characters. Yesterday, Reynolds himself was snapped on the set, along with Stephanie Szostak (who plays Nick's wife) and Kevin Bacon (cast as "the antagonist," which we're taking to mean Bacon's character is the one who sends Nick to his grave). Now, Reynolds has been captured on the set yet again, this time alongside his partner-in-death, Bridges, who is seen in costume as Bo for the first time. more about R.I.P.D. >> Posted 09.14.11 by BrentJS
It's official: Jonah Hill is joining Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn in 20th Century Fox's up coming comedy Neighborhood Watch.
Last week, the recently slimmed-down actor was reportedly in talks for the movie, but concerns about his price tag made the casting questionable. Deadline reports that Hill is a go for the movie, though what role Hill will play is still unknown.
Written by Superbad's Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the comedy sees Stiller and Vaughn start a neighborhood watch group as an excuse for dads to hang out together, and then uncover an alien plot to take over the world. Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod) will direct. Corddry a zombie, a Victoria's Secret model to PLay Jeff Bridges, Posted 08.25.11 by Ryan
Is there any hope of a sequel? Which of the movie's many quotable lines are the cast's favorites? Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, and Julianne Moore answered those questions and more for us at the recent Lebowski Reunion.
Yes, the F-Bomb makes an appearance (not surprising given the increased odds). What we didn't see coming, though, was Moore's quote, which looks to Bunny (Tara Reid's character). Warning: We advise headphones if you're viewing this at work. watch the NSFW clip >> Posted 08.18.11 by reelz
There's not too many Blu-ray releases we get excited over. Usually they have to include lightsabers or hobbits for us to pant. But when we heard The Big Lebowski was finally coming to Blu-ray, well, it made us thirsty for some "Caucasians."
The movie came and went in theaters but it was on home video (first VHS, then DVD, and now Blu-ray) where the Coen Bros. dark comedy became endowed with cult status.
Now, the only thing better than seeing a movie you've seen hundreds of times, is seeing it in HD and on the newly released Blu-ray, fans get a digital copy along with some pretty cool bonus features, including a making-of documentary, a tracking of all the f-bombs, "dudes," and Lebowski-isms during the movie. cast reuniting >> Posted 08.16.11 by Chris

There have been Casey Anthony sightings in Ohio, and she was snapped on Sunday in an OSU baseball cap, glasses, and a tight polo while shopping for dresses at Old Navy. Her attorney, Cheney Mason, has told the court in Orlando that the request for her return to serve one year probation for check fraud would "put her in great peril."
Any Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan can tell you that Russell Armstrong is a complete tool, but who knew he was such a violent tool, too? He has had separate restraining orders filed against him by his ex-wife and his ex-girlfriend, and pled guilty to battery in 1997. Armstrong and wife Taylor Armstrong are divorcing.
The Hills reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have hit rock bottom now that the couple is broke and have been forced to move into Pratt's parents' house.
The 10th-annual Lebowski Fest — August 15-16 in NYC — will be the best yet as cast members Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, and Julianne Moore will be in attendance.

This year's 2011 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) may be lacking the participation of some of the major movie studios that have helped to boost the convention's popularity in recent years with their star-studded Hall H movie panels and presentations — just weeks away, it's still not entirely clear which studios will be attending and which won't be.
However, the absence of some of the regulars has simply left a gap that other studios are eager to fill. Case in point: Legendary Entertainment. Despite being the co-producer of such comic book adaptations as Superman Returns, Watchmen, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the currently in production The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR), Legendary has never held its own standalone panel at SDCC, but it will host one this year. Legendary sent out a press release yesterday announcing the panel and listing the four movies that it plans to promote: Pacific Rim, Seventh Son, Paradise Lost, and Mass Effect. more about Legendary's Comic-Con panel >> Posted 07.07.11 by BrentJS
Universal Pictures is wasting no time continuing the Fast and Furious franchise and capitalizing on the rising superstar status of Ryan Reynolds.
Fast Five has earned $592 million in worldwide box office receipts since opening at the end of April, but Universal was already planning a sequel. In mid-April, the studio hired Chris Morgan, the screenwriter of Fast Five as well as 2009's Fast and Furious and 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, to write a sixth installment, after Fast Five enjoyed a successful early release in European markets. Fast Five director Justin Lin confirmed the sequel days after the movie was released domestically.
Now Deadline reports Universal is making the sequel official, giving it a release date of Memorial Day 2013, otherwise known as May 24th. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the rest of the Fast and the Furious acting company will reunite for "their most dangerous adventure yet", according to the studio. R.I.P.D. will arrive in 2013, too >> Posted 06.25.11 by Ryan

Our first Facebook movie game, ClusterFlick, plays off that old "six degrees of separation" theory — you know, the one that has a certain Kevin at the center of the Hollywood universe. It's easy to play, but not so easy to win. The goal is to use the major cast of movies to get from Point A to Point B in the smallest number of moves.
