The LA and NYC sets of director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man have been extremely porous when it comes to security. "Spy" photos and videos began leaking out almost immediately, revealing everything from the new, non-canonical Spider-Man costume to several of Spider-Man's (Andrew Garfield and his stunt doubles) spectacular practical stunts. Recently, the first photographic proof that Rhys Ifans' character in the movie is Dr. Curt Connors, aka the Lizard, leaked out, definitively ending fanboy speculation about which villain Spidey will face off against that began before Ifans even had the role in the movie.
As awesome as all of those leaked discoveries have been, the most recent trumps them all. Amateur photographers managed to pierce the veil of security on the NYC set once again, netting photos and a video of one of the most important scenes in the origin story of Spider-Man—the death of Peter's Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen), the man who taught him that "with great power comes great responsibility." Because he fails to stop his uncle's killer when he has the chance, Peter blames himself for Uncle Ben's death, a guilt trip that propels the newly-empowered teenager onto the self-sacrificing path of the hero that Spider-Man eventually becomes. watch the new spy videos >> Posted 05.14.11 by BrentJS
