Which of this year's actresses deserve the industry’s highest honors?
With many of Hollywood's perenially favorite veteran actresses noticably absent from the big screen in 2012 — or having appeared in movies that simply failed to live up to expectations — the 2013 Best Actress nominees will likely be made up of mostly new faces and skew much younger than in years past. In fact, several of the actresses receiving Oscar buzz are in their '20s and one — Quvenzhané Wallis, star of Beasts of the Southern Wild — is only 9 years old, which would make her the youngest actress ever nominated for an Oscar should she get the nod. We already asked you to tell us which movies you thought were the best and which directors are most deserving of Oscar nominations, now tell us which actresses are worthy of the movie industry's highest honors, whether Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress.

With every awards show, there are a few trends that stand out and a few stars who rock similar looks. We decided to put some of the nights most memorable looks head to head to see who made a look memorable, and who was just wearing some clothes.
Though many celebs took the night to wear some decidedly springtime fabrics and colors, others kept in mind that it is still actually February and went for a wintry look. Angelina Jolie and the record-breaking Christopher Plummer both looked cozy while wearing velvet, but who wore it best? While Ms. Jolie is turning up on plenty of best dressed lists for her Atelier Versace gown, we think Christoper Plummer looked positively regal and dashing in his velvet tux, and he didn't even need to flash any skin. So the 82-year-old award winner takes home the prize for Best in Velvet, too. Who's a winner? >> Posted 02.27.12 by Mandy

George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and The Artist were the big award winners at the Golden Globes Sunday night, but more importantly, who won the red carpet? Consensus around the web is Angelina Jolie, who eschewed her usual black for a snow-white-and-red Versace gown, and Charlize Theron in a slitty Dior Couture gown tie for top honors. Worst-dressed award-winners are Michelle Williams and Madonna, who were both labeled "matronly."
Catch Fashion Fanatics at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, where our panel of celebrity style experts (Alicia Davis, Kym Douglas, Michael O'Connor, Sam Saboura) review the best and worst dressed at the 2012 Golden Globes. Dayna Devon hosts.
Kelsey Grammer won a Golden Globe award for lead actor in a TV drama and backstage announced that he and wife Kayte Walsh are expecting twins. They will be the fifth and sixth kids for Grammer.
Russell Brand was back in Los Angeles to attend the Golden Globes and meet with Katy Perry one last time to hammer out the details of their divorce. Brand is quickly moving on from Perry, having already moved into a Hollywood Hills bachelor pad that's on the market for $2 million.
It doesn't look like Heather Locklear's ingestion of a drug and alcohol mix last week was a suicide attempt, as it's reported she was just partying with drugs and alcohol. Her family wants her to go back into rehab but Locklear is resisting.
Arnold Schwarzenegger baby mama Mildred Patty Banea is officially back on the market, finally granted the divorce from her husband that she filed for nearly four years ago. Posted 01.16.12 by reelz
The first trailer for The Iron Lady focused on the period elements of the biopic and the historical events that took place during Margaret Thatcher's time in office. The second trailer, on the other hand, does all but suggest that stars Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent make some room on their awards shelf for one more Oscar. Even the backing music is more reminiscent of an Awards-show clip than it is of a main-stream trailer.
The moments we see in the trailers are impressive, as Streep is nearly unrecognizable in terms of both her physical appearance and her voice. She naturally transforms right before our eyes into the former British Prime Minister. Broadbent, meanwhile, appears to be made for the role of Denis Thatcher. Perhaps making room for another statuette or two might not be a bad plan, after all. MORE >> Posted 12.08.11 by Mandy
The first trailer has been released for, The Iron Lady, a British political biopic about the United Kingdom's first (and thus far, only) female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher. Portrayed by Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, Julie and Julia) , co-starring Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge, Gangs of New York), and directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia, Gloriana), The Iron Lady tells the story of how a woman pushed through the barriers of a male-dominated world and made sure her voice was heard.
Told from the view point of Lady Thatcher, the movie takes an intimate look at how power has it's price, especially for a British woman in the 1980's. Streep worked extensively on this role, being an American playing an important British woman, even going to the extent of sitting in on a House of Parliment Session in London to properly prepare for her depiction of the former prime minister.
Due out in American theaters December 2011, The Iron Lady is just in the nick of time for The 2012 Oscars. watch the trailer >> Posted 11.14.11 by reelz
The Iron Lady would be the perfect title for a female version of Iron Man, but it's actually the title for Meryl Streep's new biopic about Margaret Thatcher, U.K.'s first female prime minister.
The first trailer for the movie just hit the web and it playfully draws out the surprise of seeing what Streep looks and sounds like portraying the famous head of state.
Portraying real people is Streep's specialty. Her last Oscar nod came from her portrayal of Julia Child in Julie & Julia. The Iron Lady is being directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who previously directed Streep in Mama Mia!.
Here's a synopsis:
The Iron Lady is a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century's most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world. watch the trailer >> Posted 07.08.11 by Chris

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes announced Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston as the biggest female moneymakers in Hollywood this past year. Many people are, of course, already taking note of the Brad Pitt connection. From June 2008 to June 2009 Jolie pulled in $27 million, while Aniston earned $25 million.
Jolie's big paycheck comes courtesy of Wanted, which grossed $341 million worldwide, and an advance for her role as a CIA agent in Phillip Noyce's upcoming Salt. Aniston's money comes from box-office winner Marley & Me, as well as her role in SmartWater commercials. She also received an advance for The Baster, where she will star alongside Juliette Lewis, Jason Bateman, and Jeff Goldblum.
Completing the top 10 are Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, and Renée Zellweger.
THR also noted that the $183 million earned by the Top 10 women falls well short of the $393 million taken in by the Top 10 men. Harrison Ford topped that list with $65 million. Posted 07.02.09 by reelz
