At the 2010 Comic-Con, Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules announced that Saw 3D (a.k.a. Saw VII) would be the last installment in the long-running franchise. Even the DVD art for Saw 3D claimed the sequel would be "the Final Chapter," but fans agreed with Saw director and franchise executive producer James Wan, who said that a return was "inevitable" earlier this year.
It looks like Lionsgate, the studio that released the Saw movies, agrees. During a talk with CNBC (via Dread Central), Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns revealed that Saw will likely make a return. "I'm sure, some day, you'll see Saw back in the picture," revealed Burns while discussing the studio's upcoming slate.
While Burns' comments aren't exactly a commitment to produce an eighth Saw movie, it's the first admission from the studio that Saw was not, in fact, finished. Of course, with Saw 3D earning $136 million worldwide, another Saw would not be much of a surprise. Looks like the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies may have some life left. After writer-director David O. Russell decided to quit the project, star Natalie Portman quickly followed suit, leaving the promising project, based on author Seth Grahame-Smith's successful mashup novel that combined zombies and Jane Austen's classic, completely empty. That may have all changed. Who will direct? >> Posted 10.18.10 by Ryan
For those unfamiliar with British-Roman history, the story behind Centurion may feel unfamiliar, which is why Magnolia Pictures is working so hard to get the word out about the movie. Directed by Neil Marshall, Centurion is not a sequel to Gladiator, but rather tells of the legendary Roman Ninth Legion, who, while trying to rid Northern Britain of the "savage," guerrilla tribes known as the Picts, disappeared. Quintus Dias (Michael Fassbender plays the Roman Centurion of the title, and leads a small band of Roman survivors as they attempt a rescue for their captured general (Dominic West), while being hunted by the Picts.
The latest clip shows Fassbender on the run from Olga Kurylenko, who forces the group to quickly overcome their fear of heights. Watch the clip and the preview Posted 08.04.10 by Ryan

What's not to love about that tagline? Or for that matter, a festival devoted to action movies?
From April 15 - 18, the first ever ActionFest will be held in Asheville, NC, showcasing more than 30 new movies. The festival opens with the world premiere of Centurion — the story of a small group of Roman soldiers that fights to stay alive after being stranded behind enemy lines — directed by Neil Marshall, and closes with an event honoring Chuck Norris with a lifetime achievement award. Director Neil Marshall (Doomsday) wrapped principal photography on his latest movie, Centurion, back in March 2009, and now the first trailer has finally been released. Described by Marshall as a "Scottish-Roman Western," Centurion speculates on the fate of the legendary 2nd-Century Ninth Legion, a fighting force of 3000 Roman warriors that supposedly disappeared without a trace after questing to eliminate the savage Picts from Britain.
After the Ninth are set upon by the Picts in a brutal ambush, only seven Legionnaires survive. Far from Roman territory and hopelessly outnumbered, the remains of the Ninth struggle to survive against an enemy they don't fully understand. Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, and Olga Kurylenko star.
A North American release date for Centurion has not been announced yet, but it is expected to open in March or April. Posted 02.19.10 by BrentJS
Director Neil Marshall's (Doomsday) latest film, Centurion, originally titled Ninth Legion, wrapped principal photography back in March, yet very little information about the film has been released. Centurion will be featured in the latest issue of Empire, so we will finally be able to get a peek at what Marshall calls his "Scottish-Roman Western."
Based on the exploits of the legendary Roman Ninth Legion that disappeared after embarking on a quest to wipe out the Picts in Second-Century Britain, Centurions stars Dominic West as General Virilus, commander of the 9th Legion; Michael Fassbender as Quintus Dias, a Centurion stranded behind enemy lines; and Olga Kuryleno as Etain, a ferocious Pict warrior. Fassbender told Empire to expect some blood.
There's certainly a lot of head-chopping. I guess you can always make modern-day parallels, to the occupation of Iraq. But it's the idea of someone who believes in an ethos, becomes disillusioned and comes to his own sort of beliefs. So there are parallels, and it's interesting when you take it out of our timeframe and stick it back 2,000 years. Posted 10.07.09 by BrentJS
Predators, the sequel conceived and produced by Robert Rodriguez, may have found a director in Nimrod Antal and not Neil Marshall, as was previously rumored. Antal is a young director, whose credits include the ho-hum thriller Vacancy and the upcoming heist drama Armored, starring Laurence Fishburne and Matt Dillon that opens December 4.
Predators will be based on a Rodriguez treatment written 15 years ago. It's set on a "jungle-like Predator planet" and may include a cameo from Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Alex Litvak is writing the script. Posted 06.30.09 by Ryan
The zombie flick genre is enjoying a nice renaissance these days, thanks in part to the hot-chicks-versus-viruses subgenre birthed by Milla Jovovich and the Resident Evil franchise.
In Doomsday, the latest effort from Descent director Neil Marshall, a vicious plague known as "The Reaper Virus" threatens the whole of Great Britain. The hot chick tasked with battling it is Rhona Mitra, last seen in Mark Wahlberg's sniper thriller Shooter.
Head over to our Doomsday page and click on the "Photos" tab to catch a glimpse of Rhona in action. Posted 01.16.08 by reelz
