What happens when Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah vie for the same choir director job? Apparently, the choir winds up singing Michael Jackson and Chris Brown songs.
Joyful Noise opens in theaters January and it will either be the cure for the post-holiday blahs or it will be just one heart-warming story too many after all the TV Christmas specials from the month before. We tend to be optimistic about the movie because Parton and Latifah are both pretty funny. Also this first trailer is encouraging because Parton's rather — let's say enhanced — appearance does not go unignored. Sure, everybody knows what Dolly Parton looks like, but for a small town preacher's wife to have that same look would certainly garner comments from people, and it's always a little strange when it goes unmentioned in her movies. Even better is that Parton's charcter's responses sound a lot like something the singer might say herself. We also kind of love that Dolly's choir robe is tightly fitted. Who else?
