Like Charlie's Angels, but dangerous!
Even though the The Expendables 2 was a bit redundant and perhaps too self-aware at times, it was still an entertaining action movie with all-star cast appeal. A sequel is already in development, with Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood all being courted to join the cast. Noticeably absent from that list are the names of any female action movie stars. We say, if the gimmick of the franchise is surprising new cast additions, why not push it further than bringing in Indy by bringing in Ripley or The Bride.
Or, better yet, how about a stand-alone movie with an all-female cast of female action heroes from yesterday and today? Just think of the possibilities!
Imagine a revenge movie written and directed by Quentin Tarantino about an all-female super-spy team run by Sigourney Weaver, with members that include: Uma Thurman as the knife expert; Gina Carano as the pugilist/demolitions expert; Jada Pinkett Smith as the animal/gun expert; Kate Beckinsale as the poison expert/seductress; Chloë Moretz as the trainee (Fox Force Five!). But, enough about our fantasy she-woman action movie. We want to know what you think: Which female action movie stars of yesterday and today do you think could make the line-up in an all-female Expendables-style movie?

It's finally upon us: the last of this summer's epic string of comic book adaptations. Some exhaustion is understandable given that this has been perhaps the most action-filled summer of all time. In fact, if you've been to the movies regularly, action's been nearly impossible to avoid. Even so, here are five reasons to take one more testosterone-filled trip to the theater this summer.

Next week, actress Rose McGowan will be appearing on the big screen as Marique, a beautiful and deadly witch in director Marcus Nispel's Conan: The Barbarian. However, not too long ago, McGowan was set to headline her own swords-and-sandals epic spinning out of the world of Conan as the title character in Robert Rodriguez's Red Sonja. Rodriguez has said in the past that the movie never happened because of rights and financing issues, but McGowan revealed in a recent interview in support of Conan: The Barbarian that "massive nerve damage" in her arm ultimately prevented her from playing the "She-Devil with a Sword." what did Rose say about Red Sonja >> Posted 08.11.11 by BrentJS
No chance this summer would be short on the eye-candy after Jon Favreau's hottie-packed Iron Man 2 last year (Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Leslie Bibb, et al). That model combined with a record 10 comic-based movies has, ahem, fleshed out the summer quite nicely, you could say — too nicely, in fact. That's why we decided to narrow this year's list, and even then we couldn't keep it to a top 10.

We've already seen plenty of pictures of Jason Momoa as the title star in director Marcus Nispel's Conan (working title), from shots of him goofing around on set, to the kind of real hack-and-slash images of him that fans expect from an adaptation of Robert E. Howard's classic Cimmerian barbarian. Even a few NSFW pics of Momoa as Conan carousing with a bevy of barely-clad beauties were recently leaked online. What we haven't seen are shots of Momoa's other famous cast members decked out in their "Hyborian age" costumes. But, thanks to BleedingCool, we now have our first shots of Rose McGowan as the witch Marique (originally scripted as Fariq, a male character), and Rachel Nichols as Conan's love interest, the beautiful bodyguard Tamara. what other Conan character was revealed? >> Posted 10.17.10 by BrentJS
There had never been any talk of director Marcus Nispel's Conan (working title) reboot being released in 3-D, so it was surprising when the Nu Image production company updated its site with a Conan poster containing a "3-D" tag on it. Nu Image quickly took down the poster, replacing it with a poster without the 3-D tag, which left many scratching their heads about the meaning of it all.
Now, Conan star Rose McGowan has updated her Twitter status with confirmation that Conan will be released in 3-D.

Yes! I'll be projecting into the audience!
Confusion reigned after a Conan casting announcement put Rose McGowan in the movie, but not in the expected role. McGowan had earlier been cast as Robert Rodriguez's Red Sonja, a sexy sword weilding spin-off of the big Barbarian. The assumption was that she would be making a cameo in Conan to set up the scarlett swordswoman. But no. This revelation threw McGowan's involvement in the Red Sonja movie into limbo — not to mention Rodriguez's participation. continue reading >> Posted 04.05.10 by reelz
The cast of director Marcus Nispel's still-untitled Conan reboot is starting to look like a G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra reunion. With Rachel Nichols previously cast as love interest Tamara, THR reports that Said Taghmaoui has joined the cast as a leader of thieves who is saved by Conan (Jason Momoa) and ultimately becomes his ally.
According to Variety, Rose McGowan is also joining the cast as a "an evil half-human/half-witch" and not as Red Sonja, another character created by Conan author Robert E. Howard. McGowan was scheduled to appear in a Red Sonja movie in 2008, but the movie has been delayed until after Conan finishes production. Producer Robert Rodriguez explained the Red Sonja delays to MTV.
If I kept the project myself, we could've just made it, but it belonged to another company that had financing problems. They had to wait until they made a couple of other movies first. They're actually waiting until they make the Conan movie before they do that — to see how that works for them.
Conan is currently shooting in Bulgaria. The movie stars Momoa, Stephen Lang as antagonist Khalar Singh, and Ron Perlman as Conan's father, Corin. Posted 03.18.10 by Ryan
Rose McGowan revealed in November that she thinks the adaptation of Red Sonja will "start filming again in maybe a year," but it looks like she and producer Robert Rodriguez will likely have to wait longer than that. In an interview with ComicBookResources, Luke Lieberman, a Red Sonja comic book writer and executive producer for the movie, revealed that the Conan reboot is shooting first.
There are a few things brewing, but it looks like they are going to shoot Conan first, in the early spring.
The Marcus Nispel-directed reboot of Conan has yet to choose its leading man, though the part is rumored to be between X2: X-Men United's Daniel Cudmore and Terminator Salvation's Arnold Schwarznegger-body double Roland Kickinger. Posted 12.31.09 by Ryan
The fate of director Robert Rodriguez's live-action adaptation of the Red Sonja comic book was in doubt after the lead actress, Rose McGowan, was badly injured while performing a stunt for the movie. After McGowan initially said that she "pulled out" of the production, she quickly clarified her statement, saying that the movie was "delayed," but "not permanently."
At the recent MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala, Fox News' Pop Tarts spoke with McGowan about her condition and the status of Red Sonja:
I need one more arm surgery from nerve damage so I'm supposed to have that the beginning of December so if you see me anywhere I'll be hobbling around with a cast. It'll be very pretty. We're hoping to start filming again in maybe a year. Posted 11.20.09 by BrentJS
