Considering the huge success of last year's The Avengers, there are probably few out there who are unfamiliar with Marvel's comic book adaptation, which assembled all of Marvel's individual, cinematic superheroes onto one team. However, what most people probably haven't seen is how effects company Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) created the Academy Award–nominated visual effects of the movie, including the creation of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and the computer-generated New York City that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) flies around in at the start of the movie.
In order to reveal the company's visual effects work (and celebrate the Oscar nod), ILM has released an Avengers reel online. "This reel represents a small fraction of the work created by over 200 ILM artists, scientists, and engineers backed up by a world class production team," said the company of their reel, which transitions from computer sketches to behind-the-scenes shots of the production to the final product. watch the video >> Posted 01.12.13 by Ryan

Upon hearing the news that the comic book heroes-turned-Saturday morning cartoon sensation-turned movie franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were going to come "from an alien race" in the upcoming Ninja Turtles reboot fans weren't pleased — the popular notion is that the former household pets were transformed by a green ooze. However, Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman has remained steadfastly in favor of the project, urging fans "not to worry" and claiming that the reboot will be true to the "core concept", and "will be a great TMNT film."
"If we learned nothing else from one of my favorite comic book based films, The Avengers, that there's a lot to be said about never forgetting that core concept and core fan-base."
Much has been made online about Eastman comparing Ninja Turtles to The Avengers, which led us to think: "What would happen if the two teams fought each other?" Well, now the time has come inside the imagined cyber octagon that is our Character Cage Match! check out the teams' strengths and weaknesses before voting >> Posted 12.05.12 by Ryan
Which Actress Should Play the Last Princess of Alderran?
Now that Disney has expanded its library of fairy tale princesses to include its first space princess, the question is: How does the "House of Mouse" plan to utilize Leia Organa, last princess of the doomed planet Alderran, twin brother to Luke Skywalker, and daughter of evil Sith warlord Darth Vader. Concurrent with the announcement of the purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd., Disney revealed that Star Wars: Episode VII would be blasting into theaters in 2015, which we later learned would be written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine); however, nothing about the plot has been revealed.
All three of the principal actors who starred in the original trilogy — Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher — have expressed interest in returning in the new movie and it's likely that Disney will want to capitalize on the popularity of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa, but whether Disney brings back the original cast members as a way of bridging the original trilogy with the new trilogy or reboots the characters with younger actors is anyone's guess. Considering how well Paramount's Star Trek reboot was received by the general audience and even die-hard Trekkers and Trekkies, coupled with the fact that Disney skews young, we're thinking Star Wars will get the reboot.
We already asked you to vote for the best actors to play Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Now, we want to know who you think has what it takes to wag her finger in the face of evil as the feisty princess with a preference for scoundrels?

Like Charlie's Angels, but dangerous!
Even though the The Expendables 2 was a bit redundant and perhaps too self-aware at times, it was still an entertaining action movie with all-star cast appeal. A sequel is already in development, with Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood all being courted to join the cast. Noticeably absent from that list are the names of any female action movie stars. We say, if the gimmick of the franchise is surprising new cast additions, why not push it further than bringing in Indy by bringing in Ripley or The Bride.
Or, better yet, how about a stand-alone movie with an all-female cast of female action heroes from yesterday and today? Just think of the possibilities!
Imagine a revenge movie written and directed by Quentin Tarantino about an all-female super-spy team run by Sigourney Weaver, with members that include: Uma Thurman as the knife expert; Gina Carano as the pugilist/demolitions expert; Jada Pinkett Smith as the animal/gun expert; Kate Beckinsale as the poison expert/seductress; Chloë Moretz as the trainee (Fox Force Five!). But, enough about our fantasy she-woman action movie. We want to know what you think: Which female action movie stars of yesterday and today do you think could make the line-up in an all-female Expendables-style movie?

A story of love and making a movie about a homicidal maniac.
There's probably very few out there that don't consider Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho one of the greatest movies of all-time, but the making of it was less than smooth and tested the marriage between the legendary director and his wife Alma Reville. Their love story is the backbone of the upcoming biopic Hitchcock, which details the difficulties involved in getting Psycho to the big screen and how Alma (played by Helen Mirren) was a continual source of strength and a sounding board for Hitchcock (played by Anthony Hopkins).
"I think Alma accepts Hitch for exactly who he is and knows his idiosyncrasies and his crazy predilections," director Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) recently explained to EW. "She allows him to have his obsessions and I think our movie is about a point where they sort of escalate. Their marriage is absolutely touched off by his increasing obsessions with these women, but they were ultimately fantasy relationships. Hitch lived in this world of fantasy; to him it was more real than real life. And I think Alma was able to kind of, in this film at least, smash it down a little bit."take a stab at the latest trailers

The erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey may have started out as Twilight fan fiction, but after author E.L. James rewrote it and repackaged it as an original story — replacing Edward and Bella with Christian and Ana — it became a publishing phenomenon, earning James a spot on Time magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Naturally, the popularity of the book started a bidding war in Hollywood and Universal Pictures and Focus Features ended up securing the rights to the entire trilogy of books in March of this year. Since that time, casting speculation has run rampant. Emma Watson was one of the first actresses rumored to be up for the role of Ana, followed by Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, and even the actress who played the character that originally inspired Ana, Kristen Stewart.
Well, forget all of those names. If James has anything to say about it, Shailene Woodley, the 20-year-old actress who more than held her own opposite George Clooney in The Descendants, will play the naive virgin who falls for a rich young man with a BDSM fetish in the movie adaptation. more about Fifty Shads of Grey >> Posted 08.21.12 by BrentJS
ReelzChannel Celebrity Rundown
Britney Spears walked off the set of The X Factor after a contestant performed one of her songs in drag. During Monday's auditions in Greensboro, N.C., a man partially dressed as a woman say Spears' hit "(You Drive Me) Crazy," causing the singer to storm off the set. Fellow judges Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid followed Spears off the set. But apparently, Spears had a change of mind about the performance when she came back to the set. "I really respect the tribute," Spears said. "It was really nice."
While Spears may have had an issue with someone singing in drag, looks like Miley Cyrus doesn't mind a little crossdressing. At the Beacher's Madhouse at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Saturday night, a drag queen invited Cyrus to the stage and sang her "Happy Birthday." Cyrus joined in and sang along. We don't think fiancé Liam Hemsworth has any reason to be jealous.
Turns out Kris Humphries's ex-girlfriend is not pregnant. After a week of speculation that she was carrying Humphries' baby, Myla Sinanaj tweeted a photo showing her in a bikini top with the caption, "Loook No Babyy bump!" She also added: "Yes I'm a thick curvy girl ... All natural I'm comfortable in my skin." Sinanaj later tweeted that she was putting a video together to address the pregnancy rumors. Hurry though, your 15 minutes are almost up.
In a new interview with InStyle, Jessica Biel said she could see her and fiancé Justin Timberlake leaving L.A. if and when they have kids. "I would like those future little people to have the experience that I had, in some capacity," she says. "It was fun. I love Colorado; I've always thought that could be a possibility for me." In a separate interview, Biel said she had no say in her engagement ring. "He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I'll be honest: He has better taste than I do."
She may or may not be getting at $20M paycheck to appear in The Avengers sequel but Scarlett Johansson definitely looks like a million bucks in these bikini photos. You're welcome America. Posted 07.10.12 by Chris
The box office success of Marvel Studios' The Avengers pretty much guarantees that we will be seeing Scarlett Johansson's put on the black slinky catsuit of former Russian spy-turned-superhero, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in a couple more Marvel movies — possibly even her own solo spin-off movie — but her "costume" will be her own body in her next big screen appearance.
In Jonathan Glazer's (Sexy Beast) latest movie, Under the Skin, Johansson plays Laura, a "ruthless alien seductress" in human form who preys upon hitchhikers until she begins to change her mind about humanity. Though the logline of the movie screams "sci-fi" — thoughts of Natasha Henstridge's character, Sil, in Species, come to mind — Johansson cautions that Under the Skin is actually "not a science-fiction film," but a "complex" movie "that asks existential questions." The movie wrapped principal photography earlier this year and FilmNation Entertainment has just released the first still image, revealing Johansson as the alien in disguise, presumably on the prowl for fresh human meat. see the full image >> Posted 05.12.12 by BrentJS
