Excellent Movie, reommend watching in the dark.
First off, I am not the biggest fan of all the remakes that are hitting the big screen these days. With that said, I loved this one. The original Dawn of the Dead is one of my favorite movies of all time. George A. Romero is the King of horror and has done it without major backing and without major role players. He built an empire with hard work and imagination, and this is evident in all of his films. This remake was done so well that I flirted with the idea that it was better than the original, but I went back and watched the original a few times to get over that crazy notion. Take a look at the crew ***embled to carry this picture and you'll see why it was a great film. Screenplay written by James Gunn, produced by Eric Newman, directed by Zack Snyder and oozing with George A. Romero's original ideas. The cast that was ***embled was perfect for a modern day zombie flick. Ving Rhames as the tough cop, Mekhi Phifer as the recovering thug, Sarah Polley as the modern woman put in a nightmare situation and Jake Weber as the working cl*** guy with a few regrets in life and looking to make up for them. The supporting cast was excellent as well. The best concept of the film was the running zombie idea. Now I can't decide what would frighten me more, a slow moving silent zombie that creeps up on you while you're not paying attention or a fast moving zombie that, if you're in bad shape, may just catch you without much effort. Make no mistake, this is not the original Dawn of the Dead done exactly the same, no sir. This film makes it's own mark on it's audience and still gives credit to the genius of George Romero. Don't forget the soundtrack either, perfect. I guess that's enough gushing for now, see this damn movie if you have not already.
