At this point in time Gone Baby Gone is my all time favorite movie, it's one of those movies that keeps you talking for days and days in which confronts you about choices you make and the concequences in life, Casey Affleck deserves a round of applause for one of his best roles since The Assasination Of Jesse James
The story begins in the Boston neighborhood of Dorchester, where the gritty, working-cl*** streets are flooded with broken homes. It is here that 4 year-old Amanda McCready has been kidnapped from her home. The police have failed to turn up any leads, so Amanda's desperate Aunt and Uncle plead with local private investigators Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Angie Genarro (Michelle Monaghan) to take the case. This is one of the years best films. It was heart-wrenching, emotionally grueling, but ultimately immensely entertaining. Ben Affleck makes his directorial debut and has already proved himself as a prominent director. His brother Casey Affleck stars in the film and gives a realistic portrayal of a Bostonian private detective. His performance is a memorable one. Affleck has secured himself as an actor with enough talent to perform in a leading role. Also a surprising pleasure to watch was the role of Amanda'Â?s mother(Amy Madigan) who was nominated for an oscar for her performance. Great plot development here, the story jerks you in many different directions and it never got predictable, or boring. The movie brings the viewer into the lives of the characters and made me empathize, and visualize how difficult the situation was for those involved. Along with delving into the main characters lives the setting of Gone Baby Gone gave the viewer a wonderful sense of realism of the harsh urban areas in Boston, and without this I don;t believe the movie would have had the same effect. I was very pleased with all the performances, the adaptation from book to screen, and the direction. Not your typical crime drama, it is very much a unique brand of filmmaking that should be seen by all movie-lovers.
