While industry types speculate as to the reasons for 2010's thus far less than stellar box office (quality of films, etc.) please factor greed and ticket prices into the mix. As in any other retail market the addition of three to five dollars for a single object (such as a ticket) can make the difference between a person or family seeing this movie AND that movie this week as opposed to this movie OR that movie. When you cross that "even number magic price threshold" (usually $10.00) by taking an extra $3.50 for a 3D showing ... and this in a year where prices have gone up already ... you're killing your golden egg laying goose. Namely, your audience. Not wise business in this economy. Those families will just choose less expensive entertainment elsewhere ... like at home. Just an opinion.
