So many of you who negatively reviewed this film, unfortunately, are sorely mistaken! This film was a gem right from the start - from the words "Yeah, I got in..." to the seed of hope of possible human perfection at the end of the film, this movie kicked serious emotional, psychological and technological tail. Technologically and visually, it was perfection, and in Imax 3D, it was also auditory and super sized perfection as well. But more importantly, as with any film...this movie had heart. At its high tech, highly polished, nano-shiny core was the human soul and the human spirit - the timeless story of the human race to overcome all obstacles, against all odds, for the divine good in all of us. The movie had all the elements - some normal humor, some bizarre humor, (which was a nice twist), important family dynamics with problems and resolutions, hero/villain tension and drama, subtle romance which grew, and of course, lots of action scenes with some sweet technology. And of course, a simple plot that was streamlined and easy to follow, but simulataneously very intriguing and a plot that kept you wanting it. And the soundtrack was indeed electronic to say the least, but it too had heart - it was warm, soulful and slick....with a lot of tension infused with hope and light in its rhythms and composition. Even non-fans of the techno genre will appreciate the music of Tron Legacy and be moved by it. As for flaws, the only real flaw I noticed was that I wished when the main character was initially 'zapped' with his father's special ray gun into the Tron world - I think the filmmakers should have visually 'spelled it out' like the original Tron did, with his entire body being erased line by line, transported, and reappearing the same way in the Tron world. In the original Tron, it was almost like his body was being scanned with a scanner, and then 'reloaded', sort of, in the micro pc world. That scene helped the viewer really feel what the character was going through, and empathize with him more as well in his new electronic world. But other than that, Tron Legacy was AWESOME! It was awesome on many, many levels, and it was a movie definitely worth seeing. For any of you reading this - don't listen to all the negative stuff about this great movie! And no - I don't work for the people who made this movie! I'm just a guy who knows what it takes to make a great movie, and this is what Tron Legacy is. Yes, it is a different and unusual movie - it is thought provoking, it is inspiring, it is poetic, it is intellectual and yet...it is amply full of techno-testosterone as well! For all forward-thinking, imaginative people out there who still have some of their inner child left that wants to explore everything... this movie is a therapeutic treat. Tron Legacy is truly a vision...to the eyes, mind, and most importantly...heart. I would highly recommend it.
