I think every one of the "pros" missed the mark on this movie. The underlying theme is that his life fell apart, and although when that happens to people, no one can see any good in it, and yet, the final result was a better life for him. This is change. This is reinvention. Julia Roberts played the part well. Tom Hanks played his part well. The supporting cast did a good job too. Is it real life? Perhaps not, but this had plenty of elements of real life in it. It was a movie to give people hope of better things to come. So, I give the movie a 9 for that goal and the critics a 1 for their off-target reviews.
