Why do these critics so often pontificate in their so called expertise of art and structure pertaining to films. Does expressing this pseudo-intellect truly reveal their knowoedgs of the focus and purpose, and dare to say the quality of a film? Should we throw away Ëxtremely loud... because Leonard Maltin says "it didn't hit me". As any art, one mustn't judge it because they didn't find what theey were looking for.
"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" is a film of true quality. Not only for its memorial and sentimental factors. But its a cascade of superb performances and heart grabbing moments. I was shocked when heard of Horns character as described to deliver an obnoxious and annoying performance. These qualities simply portray the essence and importance of his role in the film which I can tell you was delivered with electrifyingly brilliant charisma and force. This boy has left a trademark as an icon for young actors in dramatic cinema. His screen presence alone portrays this disturbed childs affliction with such personal power and glowing presence.
Of many films this is not tne to knock. Especially when dealing with such a realistic issue as 911. But the movie doesn't recreate or exploit that event, it merely shares a vision of this brilliant fictional exploration of the hurt of reality and its eternal effect on human nature. A WINNER!!!
