She thanked Jennifer Podemski - and Jen hates "Tinsel" - she fired her from hosting the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards when she found out she was Asian and not Native. She also called Doug Yazzie her "best friend" and not her husband. They’ve been married for years. She also stated that her dad is JP Korey, and that she will always carry his "name." What a freakin' phoney. JP isn't her biological dad, so why the f*ck should she steal his name and pretend to be related to him. That part pissed me off cause I have known "Tinsel" for so long and am beyond sick of her lies and deceitfulness to gain publicity and combat her shady lying past. -Sickened Beyond Belief

So she isn't really "native" and doesn't actually say her tribe or reserve. The BIIIIIIIG stupid secret is out. Who cares! Shania Twain associates herself with being native. Tinsel interviewed and corrected herself. Everyone has some native blood so we are all native american. She said she promotes art within "OUR NATIVE COMMUNITIES." They belong to everyone including people who are one percent native, and not native at all. Besides, her husband Doug Yazzie is native, so she is also part of that culture and belief system. You don't have to be born Jewish to become Jewish. Same thing. She should be allowed to find work in Canada without being bullied by actual native producers like those with APTN or the Podemski sisters. Other ethnicities always work with native theatre places, so it should be the same with film. RACISM is not necessary and shouldn't be turned on eachother on the road to equality. East Indians are just as beautiful as North American Indians!
East Indians are so beautiful that Harsha aka Tinsel denies her ethnic background. For your info on your ignorant comment regarding Shania Twain. Shania was actually adopted by a Ojibwe man and she grew up with his family learning the culture AND customs since she was a baby. Shania was raised as NDN. BIG DIFFERENCE to someone who lies. And being married to one does NOT make you Native. It only means your married to one. Is that so hard for you to comprehend? Yes you can become Jewish by converting to Judaism but you will never be Jew by blood...Judaism is a religion but also being Jew is a blood heritage. Get it right. Your comparing apples to oranges. Please don't make yourself look like a arse any further. Not anyone can just be NDN. You have to have NDN parents for you to be NDN. Harsha/Tinsel has indian parents but they're dot not feather.
There are videos online of 'Tinsel' being asked what her nationality or background is, and she says Anishinaabe (sp?), Native american. There are countless printed interviews with her saying she's Native American. I've seen and read these interviews. I can't believe what bellabeauty12 says about Tinsel unless there's concrete evidence.
She was open about being east asian and not actually native. But she is very fond of the native american culture. Harsha Patel - Tinsel - never said she was native, but east indian. She talked about her navajo husband at the meet and greet and likes to embrace aspects of the culture even tho she isnt biologically a native. Nothing wrong with visiting reservations if you are of a different nationality. At least she came to visit and was respectful; she didn't "lie" like everyone said she does. She admitting she doesnt associate with her indian parents as they are very abusive and unsupportive of her and her art. she had to beg and plead to have voice lessons at Royan in Toronto a vocal studio.
Why post a video where she is visiting a real native nation? She isn't even Native American. She is Canadian born Harsha Patel, with the stage name of Tinsel Korey, and went to school in Toronto, ON. This seems so misleading.
