Leonard Maltin takes a look at Clint Eastwood's Hereafter
To most people this movie would probably be slow and drawn out. In a society that is so fixated on being entertained by bells and whistles movies like this don't get made as often, it was nice to watch something that isn't full of fantastic hipster references. No this movie wasn't epic, and if that word is in your vocabulary to describe anything other than a long poem, series or novel you wouldn't like it. If you have ever read a good book and enjoyed it, there is a good chance you will like this film. The film was not fast paced, however it moved at the pace of life, telling stories about people. The characters were believable, nothing too fantastic and yes there were some parts were cliche's happened. But yet again noting that doesn't happen in real life. If you do watch the movie, notice the composition of the movie and scenery through out the movie. People who watch this and decide that they are bored (like the two young girls sitting behind my wife and I), will be just that bored and focused on the fact that their bored. Mean while the subtleties of the film will be missed. The movie is defiantly worth watching, but if you need bells and whistles and no character development this is not for you!

Saw the movie last night -- it was an extreme disappointment!!! Ugh!! It was so long / drawn out, not cohesive whatsoever, and just seems like no mapped out rsearch was behind the movie!!
Probably the worst movie I have seen in my adult life! Don't waste 2hrs of your life!
Mr. Maltin said it perfectly, "the film did not provide a resolution or catharsis." That, to me, proves it to be a waste of time. Matt Damon's character is the only one that had a story line that resolved itself, even if it was a weak, romantized resolution.
The other two character's story-lines ended abruptly and provided no satisfaction. More research and consultation should have gone into this film. If you are going to make a statement, then by golly, make a statement! Why choose to make a film about so challenging a topic and then go about concocting a project full of stereotypes and cliches?
