On March 20, 1990, a tour bus carrying Gloria Estefan, the singer star of the Miami Sound Machine, and her husband, son and two of her crew, was travelling through Pennsylvania’s snowy Poconos when a tractor-trailer had just jack-knifed across the icy road in front of Estefan’s bus. Her driver Ron Jones stopped in time to avoid collision but another 18-wheel truck slammed into them from behind once he had stopped. Gloria was thrown to the floor of the bus, her spine shattered. What caused the horrific crash and how did she manage to not only survive, but to get back on her feet?
