Happy Holidays: REELZ Style
EXCLUSIVELY for Club REELZ Members

Hey Club REELZ Members!

With the holiday season in full swing, your friends at Club REELZ have a special treat waiting for you.

The Treat comes from our Club REELZ pastry chef! It’s a delightfully seasonal cookie for friends and family to share during any holiday celebration: Secret Santas, Cookie Exchanges, and New Years Eve parties to name a few. Our Club REELZ exclusive recipe for Snowball Cookies is a fun one as Snowball Cookies are a sweet and buttery melt-in-your-mouth holiday classic shortbread that is easily matched with any delicious holiday beverage!

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter softened
5 Tablespoon granulated sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon fine-grain salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups finely chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar

Prep:
Dough: Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla and salt then gradually add the flour, making sure to mix thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the walnuts.

Chill: Divide your cookie dough in half. Wrap each half in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350F. Line the baking sheets with parchment paper.

Shape: Scoop the dough into 1-inch balls then roll each one in your hands to make a perfect round ball. About one Tablespoon of dough.

Bake: Place the dough balls 1 1/2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Bake for 12-14 minutes, just until the cookies are beginning to brown around the bottom edges.

Powdered Sugar Coating: When the cookies have cooled only for a few minutes use a sifter to dust with the confectioner’s sugar while they’re still warm.

Once the cookies have completely cooled, place a few cookies at a time into a zip lock plastic bag or a bowl filled with the rest of your powdered sugar. Gently toss to completely cover all of your cookies in the second coating of the powdered sugar.

Baking Tips: Don’t overbake. Snowball cookies should be pulled from the oven when the bottoms are just beginning to brown. Cookies will become dry if overbaked.

Fun mix-ins: Walnuts are a classic when it comes to Snowball cookies. However, other nuts like almonds or pecans can be used. If you like, you can try mix-ins such as red and green holiday coated chocolate candies, dried cranberries, orange zest, or mini chocolate chips.
