“The Fugitive” was the third highest grossing film of 1993 and was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for playing a relentless U.S. Marshal who pursues the wrongfully convicted inmate Dr. Richard Kimble. But the Shocking Truth is that both the movie and TV series are based on a real crime. In 1954, Dr. Sam Sheppard, his wife Marilyn and their young son Sam were living in a two-story house in a Cleveland suburb. On July 4th, Marilyn Sheppard was beaten to death in her bedroom while her husband slept downstairs on the couch. Dr. Sheppard was woken up by the cries of his wife. He immediately ran upstairs to their bedroom. As he entered the bedroom, he saw what he described as a “form” in the room. This “form” later morphed into the infamous “one-armed man” character in both the series and the film.

They’re desperate. Violent. And determined to do what no convict has ever done before – escape Alcatraz, America’s toughest maximum security prison. Five inmates plot to steal prison guns, take guards hostage, and hijack a boat. Detectives stop a vehicle leaving a known drug house and find a loaded concealed gun while searching one of the passengers. Local residents complain about a loud neighbor. A man is spotted walking down a road with a saw.

Officers set up a sting designed to capture unsuspecting bicycle thieves. An Officer conducts a routine traffic stop on a vehicle with fraudulent tags. An officer pulls over a vehicle after observing a suspected prostitute enter the vehicle.

Deputy Shelton responds to a domestic violence call and finds an angry, non-compliant male who takes issue with any question asked by the Deputy. He refuses to identify himself and launches into a narrative on his bill of rights, as he interprets them. This surely shows the degree of patience and effort the Deputy’s exhibit to de-escalate what could have potentially been quite a tussle. Deputy Ishmael and Deputy Bare investigate a complaint of a dog being shot on a person’s property. The dog was rushed to the vet by her husband and her son and the Deputies attempt to follow the blood trail, to determine who shot the dog. At the end of the trail, they come upon a man with a handgun. Deputy Roberts, while patrolling known drug houses, noticed a red truck with two occupants, one of which was passed out in the front seat with a hypodermic needle still sticking in his arm.

Deputy Taroli, while attempting to pull over a vehicle with no front license plate and an expired registration, observes the call pull over sharply and the driver bails into the woods. The driver, who ran off, had a warrant and left his 1 ½ year old infant in the back seat. Deputy Morton responds to a call from a store owner that there at two kids throwing up and intoxicated at his store. Deputies were called by a probation officer to inform them that a violent child predator was released from prison. When they found him his was on Craig’s List, looking for a child babysitter, despite the fact he has no children.
