Founder Guns N’ Roses band member Tracii Guns reveals how they got their name – and why he left the group after only a few weeks. On October 6th 2020, the world was shocked by the news that guitar legend Eddie Van Halen had died. But behind his contagious smile, there was a darker undercurrent that would plague Eddie throughout his life. He dealt with addiction issues for over 4 decades, having started drinking at just age 12. Often relying on alcohol and other substances to maintain his creativity, Eddie would spend many years in and out of rehab. He was a workaholic, often pushing his body to the limits in order to perform while secretly battling illness. Eddie died at the age of 65 from cancer. But if caught early, Eddie’s disease had reasonable survival rates. So what happened? Young Boys Incorporated was a violent and drug-trafficking gang founded in Detroit, MI in the late 1970s and Milton “Butch” Jones, Raymond Peoples, and Dwayne Davis rose up the ranks and ran the organization. YBI made a name for itself as a major supplier of heroin and the gang rose to notoriety during the 70s and 80s. At the time, the drug ring was considered innovative because it employed teenage boys to distribute drugs on the streets. In September of 1982, it was alleged that Butch ordered the execution of Davis over a turf dispute. Despite serving time in prison for federal drug charges, as well as separate charges for the murder of Davis and another fellow gang member), upon release Jones continued to be the boss of YBI. Jones fate was sealed in 2001, when Jones was indicted in Detroit on charges of selling heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. The case alleged that Jones and his crew members committed robberies, kidnapping, and murders of rival drug traffickers. When Butch Jones was finally sentenced to thirty years, Special Agent Robert Corso said, “This sentence assures the community that Milton “Butch” Jones, a violent drug trafficker, will remain incarcerated well past his 80th birthday.

Dawud “Cool” Bey was known as the Philly Intimidator, and he was a key player in the hierarchy in the Kaboni Savage Organization (KSO), a violent and drug-trafficking gang in Philadelphia, led by Kaboni Savage. The gang led a multi-million dollar drug ring that distributed illegal narcotics such as PCP, marijuana, and cocaine, and the KSO was notorious for their tactics of fear and intimidation. In 2004-2005, it is alleged that Bey plotted with Savage to kill witnesses and their families to prevent them from testifying against the gang. In late 2004, Dawud Bey was arrested and indicted for running a cocaine manufacturing and distribution ring with Savage. During Bey’s incarceration, a wiretap revealed Bey and Kaboni talking boldly about violent retribution for anyone testifying against them . At Bey’s 2006 federal hearing, Bey pled guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute cocaine. At his sentencing hearing, the government requested that obstruction of justice be added to his charges. After serving 10 years in prison, Bey was a free man in 2014. Bey is now focused on efforts to build his community via a construction business, and Bey leads an anti-violence program to fix the community he at one time terrorized.

Shauntay Henderson was one of the handful of women to appear on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Born and bred in Kansas City, Shauntay’s early years were marred by both her parents struggling with drug addiction. Once she was in the care of her grandmother, a young Shauntay was drawn to a life of gangs and drug trafficking. Known in the streets as Two Guns, her penchant for fist fighting, graduating to the use of firearms and love for high-speed police chases helped contribute to her status as a violent criminal with no regrets about her past.
